Faculty of Business and Finance was established in 2003 after the Faculty of Economics at National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute” had been split. Faculty history begins, however, in 1991, when the first department of management and taxation in Ukraine was founded. In 1991, the newly founded Faculty of Economics obtained a license to train specialists in “Business Management” (currently called «Management of Organization and Administration»). In 1992, a new field of study, which we call specialty, “Management of Foreign Economic Activity” was opened. After the faculty was established, the specialties “Finance and Credit” (2004), “Taxation” (2004), “Sociology” (2008), “Investment Management” (2012) “Merchandising and Commercial Business” (2013) and Master’s programs in “Finance and Credit” (2012), “Taxation” (2015), “Sociology” (2015), “Business Administration” (2015) were opened.
Our lecturers have been teaching students in English since 2006. It started with courses for students of “Management of Foreign Economic Activity”. Later, study in English was expanded to include other specialties such as “Management of Organization and Administration”, “Investment Management” and “Finance and credit”. International specialists and the faculty’s leading lecturers carry out teaching. Students are also allowed to obtain course summaries and to answer in Ukrainian or in Russian. In 2009, an agreement was signed with Otto-von-Guericke University (Magdeburg, Germany) on a double diploma program. Every year, German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) provides scholarships for five students of our faculty to study in Magdeburg. After the graduation, students will obtain bachelor diplomas from both Otto-von-Guericke University and National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute”. Then, they will have an opportunity to enroll in a master’s program at both universities. Our students receive scholarship support to study at the University of Klagenfurt (Austria), Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg (Germany) and Vienna University of Economics and Business (Austria). They participate in English-speaking programs at Universities in the Czech Republic, Poland, and Turkey.
The faculty of Business and Finance also provides courses in Ukrainian and Russian for our students.
