Participation in the international conference EUnity 2025 (Berlin)

Artem Kovalsky, a 3rd-year student at the Educational and Scientific Institute of Power Engineering, Electronics and Electromechanics of NTU “KhPI”, became a participant in the two-day international student conference EUnity 2025 “To the future in EUnity: education & student mobility”, which took place on July 24–25, 2025 at the Technical University of Berlin: Europa Experience Centre. The event brought together more than 40 participants from Ukraine, Germany, EU countries and other regions of the world to discuss the challenges faced by Ukrainian students, as well as to develop policy proposals and ideas for the restoration and development of Erasmus+ programs for Ukraine. They were joined by representatives of leading German and Ukrainian universities, such as Free University of Berlin, Technical University of Berlin, Friedrich Schiller University Jena, Humboldt University of Berlin, Osnabrück University, Ivan Franko National University, Lviv Polytechnic National University, Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, State University of Trade and Economics in Kyiv, National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute” and others.

According to the results of the competitive selection, only two students from NTU “KhPI” were selected to participate in the conference. Maria Romanenko, a 2nd-year student of the specialty “113 Applied Mathematics” of the educational program “Intellectual Data Analysis”, also participated in the program.

EUnity 2025 is the first conference in a series of local pan-European events within the EU Immersive Project, funded by the European Commission and implemented in cooperation with the EDIW organization. The goal is to promote mutual understanding and create a unified approach to student mobility between Ukraine and the EU.

The event program included 16 sessions from experts from universities and non-formal education specialists from Erasmus Student Network Ukraine (Pavlo Garadzhii, Danylo Ivanchyshyn), NGO Vitsche (Iryna Shulikina), DAAD (Mari Miłkowska), GFPS (Mariia Romanenko), Digital Education Hub of the EU (Rasmus Benke-Åberg), Europa Experience Centre and others. The topics covered:

  • academic cooperation between Ukraine and Germany;
  • reform of higher education in Ukraine;
  • a model EU meeting with development and voting;
  • cultural and historical dialogues between Ukrainian and students from other countries.

During the conference, Artem Kovalsky introduced the participants to the DSG2 double degree program, implemented in partnership between NTU “KhPI” and the Otto von Guericke University of Magdeburg (OVGU), as an example of successful student mobility. He shared his own experience of participating in this program, demonstrating the possibilities of academic cooperation between Ukrainian and German universities.

The conference resulted in the creation of 10 policy documents and recommendations on the restoration of Erasmus+ mobility in Ukraine and strengthening cooperation with Germany in the field of higher education reforms;

In addition to the official part, the participants had the opportunity to join the cultural program in Berlin, which contributed to the deepening of mutual understanding and trust between Ukrainian and German students.
