Science and Methodology

Lecturers in the department conduct scientific researches within their own dissertation disciplines. Most young lecturers conduct dissertation research that have different sets of deadlines. This research is aimed at the theory of translation and problems of linguistics and methods of teaching foreign languages

Scientific spheres of the department in the field of translation:

  • Translation in the field of Information Technology (Associate Professor S. Eriomin)
  • Cross-cultural communication and translation (Prof. A. Badan)
  • Translation in the field of Economic Cybernetics (Associate Professor V. Myroshnychenko, senior lect. A. Kaliuzhna)
  • Translation of Media Terminology (Associate Professor S. Eriomin)
  • Translation in the field of Economy (senior lect. N. Lutay, Associate Professor. S. Eriomin)
  • Translation in the field of Construction and Architecture (senior lect. O. Kolesnikova)

The method of teaching is constantly being improved. One of the ways of improving methods is through the involvement of native speakers. For example, the teaching of translation of legal documents is clarified by explanations of the realities of the US judicial system at a special seminar on US jurisprudence, which is conducted by U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer, Doctor of Law, Connie June Postelli (see here).
