Antonina Badan

Badan

Candidate of Philology Sciences, PhD (Germanic Languages), Professor, Department Head. She is the Department founder. She has been leading the Department since 1999.
She teaches courses: “Practical Course of English”, “Culture-through-Language Studies”, “Intercultural communication”.
She graduated from Kharkiv National University in 1975. Apart from teaching she had been working as a guide-interpreter for many years. Thanks to this job position she had an opportunity to visit a lot of European and Asian countries.
In 1991 she finished her post-graduate study, specialty “Germanic languages” (10.02.04), and defended her PhD thesis.
In 1997 she participated in scientific exchange program – she worked at Eastern Michigan University (the USA) and undertook internship in the sphere of business communication.
She has 84 scientific articles, including two textbooks with visas of Ministry of Education and Science.
Scientific interests: theory of language communication, intercultural communication, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, theory and practice of translation.


Ahibalova Tetiana

Candidate of Philology Sciences, Ph.D., Associate Professor. Has been working at the Department since 2019.

Teaches courses: “Practical Course of English”, “English Grammar”, “Professional English”, “Theory and Practice of Translation”.

Graduated from Karazin Kharkiv National University, specialty “Russian Language and Literature”, G. S. Skovoroda Kharkiv National Pedagogical University, specialty “Ukrainian Language and Literature, English Language”. In 2014 finished her post-graduate study, specialty “Ukrainian Language” (10.02.01), and defended her PhD thesis.

Authored about 40 scientific and methodological publications on aspects of teaching foreign languages and theory of language intellectualization.

Scientific interests: intercultural communication, linguoculturology, language intellectualization, anthropolinguistics.

 


Nunu Akopjants

Akopjants

Candidate of Philology Science, Ph.D., Associate Professor.
Has been working at the department since 2013.
She teaches such subjects as “Practice of Business English”, “Foreign Language”, “Theory and practice of translating”.
She graduated from Kharkov Pedagogical University named by G.S. Skovoroda with honors in specialty “English Language and Literature”.
Since 2010 to 2013 she is a postgraduate and works at the dissertation “Image system of the novel “Cancer Ward” by A. I. Soljenitsyn”.
She takes part in Ukrainian and International conferences, has more than 20 published scientific works.
Scientific interests: cognitive analysis of the text.


Oleg Buivol

Senior Lecturer of the department of Business Foreign Languages and Translation since 2003.
He teaches such courses as “Translation in the Field of Physics and Chemistry”, “Translation in the Field of Information Technologies”, “Home Reading”, “Translation in Mathematics” and others.
He graduated from Karazin Kharkiv National University with the specialties “English teacher and translator” and “German teacher and translator”
He has got great experience in translating general fiction (about 50 novel and other works) as well as in the field of scientific and technical translation. He is the author of several publications on methods of teaching foreign languages, problems of the theory of translation and translation in various fields of technology including three-volume textbooks in Mathematics with visas of Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
Scientific interests include theory and practice of translation, methods of teaching foreign languages.


Irina Gavrilova

Senior Lecturer. She has been working at the department since 2014. She teaches courses: ” Practical Course of German”, “Problems of scientific and technical translation”, “Language as means of intercultural communication”. She graduated from Kharkiv State University, specialty “Language and Literature” and was qualified as philologist, teacher of German language and literature, English language, translator.

Scientific interests: linguoculturology, interculturology.

 


Oksana Golikova

Golikova

Candidate of Philology Sciences, PhD, Assistant professor.
She teaches courses: “Practical Course of English”, “Comparative Stylistics”, “Lexical and semantic problems of artistic translation”.
She graduated from G.S. Skovoroda Kharkiv National Pedagogical University in 1998 with honours, specialty – “Ukrainian language and literature, English language”.
In 2011 she finished her post-graduate study, specialty “Russian language” (10.02.02), and defended her PhD thesis.
She is developing and implementing a new methodological concept of teaching intercultural communication by participating in English theatre festival.
She organizes the annual Competition of Poetical Translations.
Scientific interests: poetical translation, stylistics.


 

 

Karachova Daria

Senior Lecturer.
She has been working at the Department since 2017.
She teaches courses: “Practical Course of English”, “English Grammar”, “Professional English”, “Theory and practice of translating”.
She graduated from Luhansk National Taras Shevchenko University in 2010, speciality “Philology. English Language and Literature”.
Since 2010 to 2013 she was a postgraduate and worked at the dissertation research “Victorian biography and it’s modification in XX century”. In 2016 she got a PhD degree in Philology.
She took part in different Ukrainian and International conferences, has 10 published scientific works.
Scientific interests: cognitive linguistics, cross-cultural communication.

 


 

Yevhen Kozlov

Candidate of Philology Science, Ph.D., Associate Professor.
He has been working at the Department since 2010.
He teaches courses: “Practical Course of English”, “Theory and Practice of Translation”, he is a supervisor of qualifying and diploma works.
He graduated from G.S. Skovoroda Kharkiv National Pedagogical University in 2006, specialty “English and Russian Languages and Literature”. He finished post-graduate study, specialty “Russian Language”, and defended his Ph. D. thesis in 2016.

He has over 30 scientific and academic works in the field of his research.
He is a supervisor of Students’ Practical Training.
Scientific interests: cognitive linguistics, poetics, gender studies.


Yulia Kuprienko

Lecturer.
She has been working at the Department since 2010.
She teaches courses: “Practical Course of English”, “Theory and Practice of Translation”, “Business English”, “English Grammar”, she is a supervisor of qualifying and diploma works.
She graduated from Karazin Kharkiv National University in 2008 (cum laude degree), specialty “Translation”.
She worked as a lecturer of English at Kharkiv Medical University.
She annually holds the Olympiads in the English Language for students of Business Foreign Languages and Translation Department and Economic and Engineering Departments
She is currently working on her Ph.D. thesis
She has 2 scientific articles in the field of her research “Methodology of Teaching English in IT Sphere” and 2 scientific articles with students
Scientific interests: “Methodology of Translation in IT Sphere”, Business English Translation, Medical English.


Viktoriya Myroshnychenko

Candidate of Philology Sciences, PhD, Assistant professor.
She has been working at the Department since 2005.
She teaches courses: “Practical Course of English”, “Comparative lexicology”, “Theory and practice of translation”.
She graduated from G.S. Skovoroda Kharkiv National Pedagogical University in 1996. She used to work at National University of Internal Affairs.
In 2004 she finished her post-graduate study, specialty “Russian literature” (10.01.02), and defended her PhD thesis.
In 2008 she took part in TESOL internship program (New York, the USA).
She is a member of the Academic Council of the Faculty for Integral Training, a member of the committee on qualifying papers of the Methodological council of NTU “KhPI”.
She has more than 20 scientific articles.
Scientific interests: scientific and technical translation.


Iryna Nedainova

PhD (in Philology, specialty 10.02.04 – Germanic Languages), Associate Professor, appointment – Professor. Graduated from Kyiv State Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages (Kyiv National Linguistic University) ​​in «Foreign languages ​​(two languages: English and French»). The teaching experience in higher education is 23 years.

Advanced in skills in different internships and scientific and methodological events (for example, St. Norbert College internship under the programme «Partners in Education» – Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA, October-December 2002; the ACCELS workshop on Sociolinguistic problems – Lviv, April 2003; the workshop «The Role of University Self-evaluation in Bolognа process» – Brussels, Belgium, October 2010; the international scientific conference «Beyond Philology» –   Gdansk, Poland, March 2013;  the international scientific conference «Thought Elaboration: Linguistics, Literature, Media Expression: TELL ME 2016» –   Lithuania, Vilnus University, April 2016; internship under Ukraine Higher Education Leadership Development Programme – Great Britain, Cambridge University, December 2016).

Authored about 40 scientific and methodological publications, co-authored three monographs on Conceptual Linguistics and Nomination Theory.

Academic work: teaching the courses on major foreign language, Oral Practice, Grammar, Media texts translation for the bachelor degree students in specialty «Translation»;  teaching the courses on Sociolinguistic and Pragmatic Problems of Translation and Basics of Scientific Research for master’s degree students; supervising the students’ scientific research (diploma and term theses, reports and speeches at the conferences, scientific articles drafts).


Natalia Pilgui

Candidate of Philology Sciences, PhD, Assistant professor.
She has been working at the Department since September 2009.
She teaches courses: “Practical Course of English”, “Scientific and Technical Translation”, “English Grammar”, “Professional English”.
She graduated from Zaporozhye National University in 2007, specialty “Foreign Philology”. She worked at the Foreign Languages Department at the Vasilenko Kharkov National Technical University of Agriculture
She is an academic adviser of students’ term papers and diploma thesis. She takes active part in scientific activity of the area 10.02.04 “Germanic Languages”.
She takes part in annual international and Ukrainian scientific conferences. She has publications on the topic of the Ph. D. dissertation.
Scientific interests: scientific/technical text interpretation issues, scientific/technical translation, scienfic discourse.


 

Viktoriia Samarina

 Candidate of Philology Sciences, PhD, Assistant professor.
She teaches courses: “Practical Course of German”, ““Problems of scientific and technical translation”, “Language as means of intercultural communication”. She graduated from Kharkiv State University in 1998, specialty – “Language and Literature” and was qualified as philologist, teacher of German language and literature, English language, translator. In 2011 she defended her PhD thesis, specialty “Germanic languages” –10.02.04. In 2016 the monograph “German advertising discourse: linguopragmatic and cognitive aspects” was published. Sphere of scientific interests: linguopragmatics, verbalization of communicative strategies, Internet genres, stylistics.

 


Anna Sukhova

Candidate of Philology Sciences, PhD, Assistant Professor.
She has been working at the Department since 2010.
She teaches courses: “Practical Course of English”, “Business English”, “Business Communication Translation”, “Scientific and Technical Translation Editing” and others.
In 2010 she graduated from Karazin Kharkiv National University, Foreign Languages Department (specialty “Translation”).
In 2017 she defended her Ph.D. thesis (specialty 10.02.04 – Germanic Languages).
She regularly participates in Ukrainian and International conferences and has more than 20 published scientific works.
She is the author of “Business English” textbook for the students of “Translation” department and students of economic specialties.

She is an academic advisor of students’ term papers and diploma theses.
Scientific interests: pragmalinguistics, linguostylistics, fictional discourse and business communication translation.


 

Svetlana Tsaryova

Assistant Professor.
Tsaryova S.O. has been working at the department of Business Foreign Languages and Translation since the date of its establishment in 1999.
She teaches such courses as “Practical Course of English”, “Theory and Practice of Translation”, “Translation of Patent Documentation”, “Translation in the Field of Electronics and Electrical Engineering”, “Translation in the Field of Information Technologies”  and others.
She graduated from Minsk State Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages with the specialty “English and French teacher”.
Tsarova S.A. has extensive experience in the field of scientific and technical translation.
She had her training in the United Kingdom (Plymouth) and the USA (Atlanta).
She is the author of 65 publications on methods of teaching foreign languages, problems of the theory of translation and translation in various fields of technology including three textbooks with visas of Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

Scientific interests include  theory and practice of language communication, intercultural communication, theory and practice of translation, methods of teaching foreign languages.


Victoria Shevchenko

Candidate of Philology Sciences, PhD, Assistant professor.
She has been working at the Department since 2007.
She teaches courses: “Practical Course of German”, “Theory and Practice of Translation”.
She graduated from Karazin Kharkiv National University in 2007, specialty “The German Language and Literature”
She took refresher training at Friedrich-Schiller Universitat (Jena) in 2009.
She is working on her Ph.D. thesis and has a number of articles in the field of her research.
Scientific interests: speech acts theory, pragmatics, scientific literature translation.

Master of Arts, associate professor.
She has been working at the Department since 2004.
She teaches courses: “Practical Course of Second Foreign Language”, “Culture-through-Language Studies of German-Speaking Countries”, special course “Semantic and Stylistic Difficulties of Translation”.
She graduated from Kharkov National University in 1999, specialty “Foreign Languages”.
She defended her dissertation on the topic “Stylistic and Semantic Connotation System Peculiarities of Modern German Phraseology”.
Since 2004 she is associated professor of German Philology and Translation Department in Kharkov Karazin National University. She is the deputy dean in scientific work of the department and the head of the Young Scientists Association of the Department.
She has 50 scientific publications and teaching/ methodological aids.
Scientific interests: vocabulary and phraseological connotation, aphoristics, peremiology.
