1. Jewelry and Precious Metals

Imagine the shine of gold on an exquisite piece of jewelry, the noble glow of silver, or the mirror surface of rhodium that protects the product from tarnishing. Behind all this beauty is the technology of electrochemical metal deposition. At our department, you will learn to manage the processes of applying precious metals, creating not only beauty, but also functionality.

Why you will learn:

Gold, silver and rhodium plating technologies: You will master the methods of applying perfectly smooth and durable coatings to jewelry, costume jewelry, decorative elements and watches.

Quality control: You will learn to determine the thickness, purity and adhesion (bonding strength) of coatings using modern equipment.

Electrolyte development: You will understand how to create solutions unique in composition to obtain coatings with specified properties: color, shine and hardness.

Platinum Metals Refining: You will master the complex technologies of purifying gold, silver, platinum, palladium and other platinum group metals to the highest standard, which is a key process in the production of bank ingots and catalysts.

2. Functional electroplating

Every day you come across the results of the work of an electrochemical engineer: shiny chrome-plated car parts, rust-proof galvanized structures, brass door handles. This is not just decoration, but reliable protection and giving unique properties to surfaces. Electroplating is the basis of the durability and reliability of modern technology.

What you will learn:

Chrome and nickel plating technologies: You will learn to create wear-resistant, hard and decorative coatings for machine parts, tools and plumbing.

Zinc and cadmium plating methods: You will master the processes of applying protective coatings that save steel from rust in the harshest operating conditions.

Creating alloys: You will learn to deposit not only pure metals, but also their alloys, for example, brass (copper-zinc), to obtain unique decorative and functional properties.

Electrochemistry in microelectronics: You will learn how electrochemical processes create conductive tracks on printed circuit boards – the basis of any modern gadget.

3. Hydrogen energy and water electrolysis

The future of energy lies in hydrogen. This is an environmentally friendly fuel, when burned, only water is formed. And the most effective way to obtain it is electrolysis, that is, the decomposition of water into hydrogen and oxygen under the influence of electric current. Specialists who master this technology will become key figures in the energy revolution of the 21st century.

What you will learn:

Principles of electrolyzers: You will deeply understand the physical and chemical processes that occur during the electrolysis of water.

Design and Optimization: You will learn to calculate and design industrial equipment for hydrogen production, increasing its efficiency and reducing energy consumption.

New Materials: You will participate in the development and research of new catalysts and membranes that make the hydrogen production process cheaper and more accessible.

Hydrogen Storage Systems: You will learn about modern methods of safe storage and transportation of hydrogen.

4. Chemical Power Sources and Fuel Cells
Smartphones, laptops, electric cars – all of this works thanks to compact and powerful energy sources. Our department trains specialists who know how to convert chemical energy into electrical energy. You will develop and improve accumulators, batteries and fuel cells – the heart of modern portable technology.
What you will learn:
Theory and practice: You will study the principles of operation of lithium-ion, lead-acid, nickel-metal hydride and other types of batteries.
Development of new systems: You will work on creating a new generation of batteries – with greater capacity, faster charging and longer service life.
Fuel cells: You will master the technology of fuel cells that convert fuel energy (for example, hydrogen) directly into electricity with high efficiency, which is an ideal solution for autonomous power systems.
Diagnostics and Testing: You will learn to conduct a full cycle of tests of chemical power sources, determining their characteristics and reliability.
Your career: Battery manufacturing companies (for phones, drones, electric vehicles), defense enterprises, developers of uninterruptible power supply systems, research centers.
5. Corrosion protection
Rust is a silent but relentless enemy of metal. It destroys bridges, pipelines, ships and cars, causing enormous losses to the economy. An electrochemical engineer is a real “doctor” for metal who knows how to stop corrosion and extend the life of the most important infrastructure facilities for decades.
What you will learn:
Corrosion diagnostics: You will learn to determine the causes and speed of corrosion processes in various environments.
Electrochemical Protection: You will learn the most effective methods of combating corrosion – cathodic and protective protection, which are used to protect underground oil and gas pipelines, ship hulls and port facilities.
Corrosion inhibitors: You will learn how special chemicals can slow down the processes of metal destruction.
Development of complex protection systems: You will design systems that combine protective coatings and electrochemical methods for maximum reliability and durability.
