Description of the organisation
HEP Group is a national electricity company which has been engaged in electricity production, transmission and distribution for more than one century, and with heat supply and gas distribution for the past few decades. It is organized in the form of a holding company with a number of daughter companies. The parent company of the Group, HEP d.d., performs the function of HEP Group corporate management and guarantees the conditions for the secure and reliable electricity supply to customers.
Within HEP Group there is a clear division (managerial, accounting, legal) of companies which perform regulated activities (transmission and distribution) from non-regulated ones (generation and supply).
Description of the department
The EU and Regulatory Affairs Department is part of the mother company (HEP d.d.) and has overall monitoring and coordinating role for the processes of making and implementation of energy legislation in HEP Group such as — positioning HEP Group in the decision making process at the EU level (in the EU institutions), positioning HEP Group while the transposition of EU directives and regulations into national legislation and its implement and application in daily operations. Also EU and Regulatory Affairs department is responsible for overall coordination of EU projects within HEP Group.

Having in mind that HEP Group is an electricity company which has been engaged in electricity production, transmission and distribution, diversified portfolio of products, services and projects like heat supply and gas distribution and ESCO services — the interests are rather disbursed. Generally, HEP Group has interest in all the groups of calls envisaged in the Work plan for 2014 – 2015 as follows:

Description of the expertise offered related to the topic
HEP Group has 4,000 MW of installed capacity for electricity production and 974 MW of heat production capacity. There are 25 hydro power plants and eight thermal power plants fired by oil, natural gas or coal. Some of them produce both electricity and heat in a combined-cycle, forming the backbone of the district heating system in the cities of Zagreb and Osijek.
HEP d.d. is a co-owner of Krško Nuclear Power Plant in Slovenia.
HEP Renewable Energy Sources deals with preparation, construction and use of renewable energy sources (wind, small waterways, geothermal water, etc.).
A total of 24 000 transformer stations and 140 000 km of lines of different voltage levels. HEP Transmission System Operator and HEP Distribution System Operator (DSO) are providers of public services of electricity transmission and distribution, respectively, for the needs of participants in the Croatian market.
There are more than 2.3 million electricity customers and/or metering points in Croatia. Supply for eligible customers is the responsibility of HEP Supply (exposed to competition).
HEP Trade carries out the activities of purchase and sale of electricity, optimization of power plants’ operation, and trading intermediation in the domestic and international market.
HEP District Heating carries out production, distribution and supply of heat energy in number of cities. HEP Gas supplies natural gas to the customers in some counties.
HEP ESCO is a company that provides energy services, develops executes and finances commercial energy efficiency projects.
