Education quality assurance
The university’s quality policy is aimed at ensuring the quality of educational services by improving the scientific and methodological, pedagogical and methodological skills of the scientific and pedagogical staff, introducing innovative teaching technologies, strengthening the university’s material and technical base, using advanced information technologies, and the results of fundamental and applied scientific research, taking into account the needs of the market, educational services, and the labor market.
The Department of Quality Assurance of Educational Activities is a structural unit of the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute”, which is engaged in ensuring the quality of educational activities and the quality of higher education at the University in accordance with the requirements of the Law of Ukraine “On Higher Education”, regulatory documents of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, regulatory documents of the National Agency for Quality Assurance of Higher Education, the DSTU ISO 9000 series, as well as recommendations for quality assurance in the European Higher Education Area.
The Department of Quality Assurance of Educational Activities of NTU “KhPI” was created on the initiative of the Rector (Order No. 370 OD dated August 30, 2016). The structural unit is subordinate to the Rector and Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work.
The Department of Quality Assurance of Educational Activities operates on the basis of the regulation put into effect by Order No. 133 of the Ministry of Education of Ukraine dated February 28, 2020.
Main goal
Development, ensuring the functioning and optimization of the Quality Management System of Educational Activities at the University in accordance with the requirements of national and international standards.
Main tasks
- Coordination of activities to develop, implement and support the functioning of the Quality Management System at the University in accordance with the requirements of DSTU ISO 9001:2015.
- Information and methodological support for document management of the Quality Management System at all stages.
- Organization of training of University personnel in order to master the Quality Management System and put it into operation in accordance with the needs of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and in accordance with the standards.
- Control over the functioning of the Quality Management System at the University.
- Organization of internal and external audits of the Quality Management System.
- Organization of certification of the Quality Management System in national certification bodies.
- Ensuring timely adoption by the University management of corrective and preventive actions necessary to eliminate (prevent) inconsistencies in the organization of University processes that affect the quality of educational services.
- Ensuring electronic access to the documents of the Quality Management System posted on the official website of the University.
- Providing consulting and information services in the field of quality management of educational activities.
Educational quality management system
The advantages of implementing and using a quality management system in the university’s activities are:
- increasing the quality of educational services, awareness of this and taking into account the needs and expectations of customers and consumers;
- streamlining and regulating (performing a sequence of actions in accordance with approved procedures) activities;
- the possibility of increasing the level of internal document flow, a clearer distribution of powers, tasks and responsibilities through the prescription of processes and their management;
- rational and effective use of resources, especially human;
- the quality management system is an effective mechanism for strengthening the university’s competitiveness.
The quality management system of NTU “KhPI” was created and is being improved through cooperation with the Management Systems Certification Body of the State Enterprise “Kharkiv Regional Scientific and Production Center for Standardization, Metrology and Certification”.
Based on the results of the quality management system audit on November 29, 2017, November 30, 2020, December 04, 2023, the University received a Certificate for the quality management system for the provision of services in the field of higher education; scientific research and experimental development, which confirmed that the Quality Management System of NTU “KhPI” meets the requirements of DSTU ISO 9001:2015.
The DSTU ISO 9001:2015 Certificate is, first of all, the “business card of NTU “KhPI”, which guarantees that all processes operating at the university are managed and are under the control of management. The principles and requirements of ISO 9001 are universally recognized in the world. Therefore, if we declare the presence of the Certificate, we will be understood in any country in the world, which increases the university’s prospects for contacts with potential grantors and investors.
The need for a certified quality management system at NTU “KhPI” is considered a positive practice by the experts of the National Academy of Higher Education and Science: “… Systematic integration of all components of the educational process both in the university as a whole and in the educational program directly, implementation of DSTU ISO 9000:2015 “Quality Management Systems”, from individual training plans for higher education applicants to the diplomas they receive…”
