How to choose selective educational components?

In the spring of each academic year (Bachelor’s program) or during the fall semester (Master’s program), go through the following stages.

1) Know your rights and find out the procedure for their implementation.

Read the “Regulations on the procedure for the implementation of the right to free choice of educational components by higher education applicants“.

2) Collect information about educational components:
– read the syllabuses of various disciplines in the general university catalog, on the website of the NNI KhTI and on the website of the ITPA department;
– consult with the Guarantor of the educational program;
– talk to the curator of your academic group;
– talk to the teachers of the current semester;
– gather the experience of senior students.

3) Reach a consensus in your group.
Academic streams for taking elective courses are formed according to demand, taking into account the rule:
– at least 10 people for applicants for the Bachelor’s degree;
– at least 5 people for applicants for the Master’s degree.
Coordinate your preferences with your classmates to increase the chances of forming a sufficient number of people for taking the course.

4) Notify your choice.
Notify the academic group supervisor or the Guarantor of the educational program about your choice.

5) Write a statement.
Confirm your choice in writing by writing a corresponding statement (a general sample is given below and is available for download).
