In the same year he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Engineering Sciences and was transferred to the Professor position of the Metal Forming Department named after Academician O.P. Chekmarev of NMetAU.

Since 2018 he has been the Head of the Department of Computer Modeling and Integrated Forming Technologies of the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute”, as well as a member of the Academic Council of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and Transport of the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute” and a member of the Academic Council of the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute”. Since 2018, he has been a member of the Specialized Academic Council Д45.052.06 at the Kremenchug National University named after M. Ostrogradskyi, and since 2022 he is a member of the Specialized Academic Council Д64.050.12 at the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute”. In 2021, he received the academic title of professor of the Department of Computer Modeling and Integrated Forming Technologies and received an Honorary Diploma from the Rector of the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute”.

The basis of Chukhlib V.L.’s scientific interests is to determine a set of rational parameters of the forging process with a combination of upsetting and broaching operations and variation of the deformation direction by theoretical and experimental study of metal deformation with initial non-uniformity of properties, which makes it possible to obtain products from carbon steels, special and titanium alloys with the desired properties and savings in material costs. The conducted researches of forging pieces allowed us to develop technological processes of forging which provided increase of the received production quality using the special mode of deformation.

As a result of the Chukhlib V.L.’s implementation of developments in the conditions of PJSC Electrometallurgical Plant “Dniprospetsstal” due to reduction of expenses for forging of forging pieces and increase of quality of production the following real effect is received, namely: at forging of corrosion-resistant chromium-nickel austenitic steels and alloys (type 12Х18Н10Т, 12Х18Н9, 17Х18Н9, 08Х18Н10) obtaining the minimum variety of finished products forging forging pieces decreased by 18.7%; during the deformation redistribution of steel ingots 4Х5МФ (1) С, 08Х18Н10Т, Х12МФ due to the reduction of surface crack formation the need for forging of forging pieces decreased, which allowed to reduce the cost per ton of metal by 19.2%. These developments have increased the efficiency of deformation redistribution in forging forging pieces. In 2016, for a set of works on blacksmith production in the conditions of PJSC “Electrometallurgical Plant “Dniprospetsstal” Chukhlib V.L. was nominated by the Academic Council of NMetAU to receive the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technology. For the conditions of PJSC “NPO DNIPROPRESS” and LLC “DNEPROPRESS STEEL”, as well as PJSC “Novokramatorsk Machine-Building Plant” Chukhlib V.L. developed rational temperature and deformation modes of forging of carbon steels, special and titanium alloys, and when forging forgings and its influence on the geometric parameters of forging pieces depending on the shape of the workpiece and process factors with reduced forging coefficients to improve the mechanical properties of products. Technological processes of forging were designed at these enterprises, which allowed to reduce by 20-25% the rejection of metal during forging and to reduce by 30-35% the cost of peeling and improve the quality of the obtained forging pieces. For the conditions of PJSC “Odessa Machine-Building Plant” Chukhlib V.L. developed a new technology and calculated technological transitions for the production of forging pieces, which differs in the development of rational deformation and temperature-velocity modes of deformation with the design of a press tool which was manufactured and successfully used to obtain these forging pieces.

Chukhlib V.L. during 2005-2008 was a scientific consultant of PJSC “Dniprovazhmash”, as well as during 2013-2015 he was a scientific consultant of PJSC “NPO Dnipropress” and during 2015-2020 was a scientific consultant for blacksmith production LLC “DNEPROPRESS STEEL”.

During the pedagogical activity Chukhlib V.L. taught and teaches the following lecture courses: “Theory of plastic flow of solids”, “Theory of metal forming”, “Theory of forging and forming production”, “Technology of forging and forming production”, “Resource saving in the processing of metal forming”, “Defects and quality control of metal products”, “Processing of metal forming”, “Fundamentals of technical creativity” and others. As of 2023, Chukhlib V.L. is the author of more than 110 scientific and methodical works, which are published in domestic and foreign scientific publications, as well as 1 textbook stamped by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and 4 patents.
