Mechanics and technology department
This department was founded in 1929. It provides training of mechanical engineers, process engineers, system analysts and engineers for computer-integrated technological processes and production.

Design-related information technologies; computer-integrated technological processes and production, foundry equipment, applied material science, Casting equipment, applied science of materials, pressurised metal forming equipment.
Fields of Studies
Doing research and developing the new materials including nanomaterials, , developing the new technological processes for thermal, casting and forging industry, developing the computer technologies for processing graphic information, producing the competitive advertising and marketing stuff, developing and optimizing the computer-based moulding technologies and production.
Basic Subjects
Physics, mathematics, basics of machine design, thermodynamics and heat transfer, metrology, standardisation, material science, electrical engineering, computer programming and software, information technologies.
Special Subjects
Special training is based on the chosen field of specialisation including computer-aided design systems for pressurised metal forming and casting, functional and artistically decorative coatings in machine building, art and jewellery castings, metal and technology expertise in engineering industry, science of metals and thermal treatment, computer-integrated technological processes in foundry, computer technologies for processing graphic information.
The individual curriculum training is also provided. Much attention is paid to the computer sciences. All departments have computer centres equipped with modern PCs, workstations for designers and production engineers; an ample amount of applied software packages has been developed.
Teaching is conducted by skilled teachers knowledgeable in production and research. The teaching staff includes 2 academicians, 12 professors and 45 associate professors. All the students do their own research at the factory workshops and laboratories, research-&-design institutions, at the university departments, design bureau and computer centres.
Practical Training
Practical training is conducted at the leading enterprises and companies in the city of Kharkov including the Kharkov Tractor Works, the Malyshev Works, the Bicycle factory, the Machine–Tool and Electro-Mechanical Works, Research Institute for Casting Engineering, Diprostal, JSC Ball Bearing Plant 8 and private companies as well.
Places for employment
A variety of industrial companies, design and research organisations, customs, and ecological police offices, design and advertising companies. The graduates hold positions of design engineers, process engineers, researchers in the field of design of the casting, forging and heat treatment equipment, they also work as equipment maintenance and repair engineers, as chiefs of the departments and shops, experts in the appropriate fields, graphic systems programmers and ad designers
