Information about the department

The department consists of 13 teachers and six scientific employees, including 5 professors, 4 associate professors, three senior teachers (2 doctors and 10 candidates of technical sciences) and seven employees of educational and support staff. The department prepares specialists and masters in the specialty “Boilers and reactors” and “Computer-integrated technological processes and production”.

More than 30 educational courses are offered at the department. An average of 170 students study at the department annually. It is the basis for the training of specialists for Central Design Bureau “Energoprogres”, OJSC “Kotloturboprom” (Kharkov), PJSC KhKP “Kotloenergoproekt” (Kharkov), PJSC NTP “Kotloenergoprom” (Kharkov), PJSC “VTP” Ukrenergochormet “( Kharkiv), PJSC PTKI “Ukrcranenergo” (Kharkiv), PJSC “Kharkiv TPP-5” and a number of other enterprises. Graduates of the department are sent to work in design and construction and industrial organizations of Ukraine and the CIS countries. Many of them achieve great success. Well-known graduates of the department hold responsible positions in various areas of energy in Ukraine, near and far abroad.

Since 1999, the training of specialists by correspondence form of education has been started.

The department has established close ties with the largest technical universities of Russia, Poland, Germany, and the Czech Republic.

The interests of the scientific school of the department in the direction of improving technologies for the design and operation of thermal and nuclear power plant equipment and an objective assessment of the need for Ukraine to increase energy capacity at nuclear power plants led to the need to open in 2001 a branch of the department in the main research institute of this field – the National Science Center “Kharkiv Physical and Technical Institute”. The permanent participation of leading scientific staff of the NSC “Khfti” as a branch in the department’s scientific research and the possibility of using the laboratory base of this institute is a new form of organization of scientific, scientific-technical and innovative activities.
