A well-known scientist in the field of thermal and nuclear energy, is one of the most skilled experts in the country for mathematical modelling of complex heat and power systems. Under the direction of Oleksandr Vyacheslavovich, the Department of Steam Generation NTU “KhPI” operates and successfully develops a scientific school, the important contribution of which is the new theoretical positions of a promising scientific direction – optimization of control of technological processes of power units of thermal and nuclear power stations, diagnostics and forecasting of their functional state by means of simulation modelling, which allows to increase the efficiency and safety of functioning of power generating complexes in Ukraine.
Graduated from the Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute (now the National Technical University – NTU “KhPI”), specializing in Turbine Engineering in 1976. He defended his Ph.D. in 1982, received his Ph.D. in 1995, and received the title of Professor in 2001.
O.V. Efimov made a significant contribution to the preparation of domestic and foreign engineering staff and the solution of educational and methodological problems of higher education in Ukraine. He lectures on the main subjects for the energetics of disciplines: “Thermal and Nuclear Power Plants”, “Systems for the Automatic Design of Thermal and Nuclear Power Installations”, “Physical and Mathematical Modelling of the Heat of Hydraulic Processes in Thermal and Nuclear Power Plants”, “Exploitation of Nuclear Power Plants”, etc.
The scientist has high authority in universities and enterprises of Ukraine, Russia, Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic, Germany andKuwait. About 40 of his scientific developments were introduced into the energy industry of Ukraine and foreign countries. Under his leadership, doctoral and postgraduate degrees from Ukraine, Russia and Kuwait are protected by candidate and doctoral dissertations.
For many years O.V. Efimov is a member of the Expert Council of the Higher Attestation Commission of Ukraine “Electrical Engineering and Energy”, a member of the Expert Council on Energy and Electronics of the Personnel Certification Department of Ukraine for Licensing and Accreditation of Higher Educational Institutions: a member of the Expert Committee on Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine; Deputy Chairman of the Scientific-Methodical Commission of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine in the specialty “Energy”; a member of 4 specialized academic councils for the defences of dissertations; a member of the Energy Saving Commission at the Fuel and Energy Department of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration; a member of the editorial boards of many leading scientific editions of Ukraine.
The author of more than 150 published scientific works, including 4 scientific monographs, 2 textbooks and 5 textbooks with a stamp of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, in particular, “Imitation experiment in mathematical models of turbo-installations”, “Modelling of the functional state and diagnostics of turbo-installations”, Methods of calculation in automation of chemical and technological and heat and power processes “,” Structures, materials, processes and calculations of reactors and steam generators of the NPP “, etc.
