According to the results of scientific research steam generator boiler sub-department towards the development of systems analysis and the theory of simulation as a means of mathematical modeling of processes of heat and power equipment, in 2006, NTU “KhPI” for the first time in the practice of domestic energy produced industrial design condensation air heater with circulating hot water storage tank , which has no analogues in Ukraine, for boilers using gaseous fuels.

Such condensing air heaters with circulating acid- intermediate spherical coolant, allowing to use the latent heat of the flue gas boilers can be installed for hot water boilers. The scheme allows the application of the developed air heater, unlike their foreign counterparts, solve the problem of condensation in the flue of the boiler by mixing saturated water vapor exhaust flue gases with a small hot-air humidity. As a result of the mixing is possible to provide the relative humidity of the flue gas path to the boiler in the range 20-25 %, which ensures that no condensation of water vapor in the path and the duct.

The calculations that have been carried out for one of the most popular in Ukraine KVGM -20 -150, have shown that the use of them as heat-recovery heat exchanger developed by the condensation of air heater, boiler efficiency increased by 9.7 % to reach 95 – 96 %, which demonstrates its efficiency. His introduction to the production and further operation in the construction of boilers contributes to solving the problems of energy and resources in Ukraine by providing total savings of fuel up to 15 % on one pot and makes it possible to reduce the generation of nitrogen oxides by 2 times and carbon emissions – by 25 %.

The project can be implemented in energy units , in boilers of heating systems that are in the area of human settlements. The quality of water heated by direct contact with the flue gases after degassing can use it in the production of domestic hot water systems, as well as the feed-water heating systems boilers. The condensate that is formed in the air preheater illustrated in “dry” condensation may be used in boiler water systems installations.

Currently, the development implemented on the boilers CE ” Kharkiv Heating Networks”, namely, the set design in the boiler room of one of the districts of Kharkov.

In doing research department maintains close cooperation with research organizations and industry Sciences National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine: a leading scientific and research institute in the field of nuclear energy by the National Science Center ” Kharkov Institute of Physics and Technology” National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, with the Institute of Mechanical Engineering. AM Podgorny National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, with the Institute of Electrodynamics of NAS of Ukraine.

Scientists Steam generator boiler sub-department constantly conducting research within the contractual order, the annual volume of which is about 100 thousand UAH. The results of research are being introduced for research use in the industry for companies in Ukraine and abroad, including “Kharkov Boiler Mechanical Plant”, NSC “KhPTI”, CJSC “Kotloenergoprom”, ATN TP “Ukrpromenergo”, JSC HKP “Kotloenergoproekt”, KP “Kharkiv Heating networks”, JSC “Kharkiv CHP -3”, the power station «Doha West» in Kuwait.

The scientific potential of the department and its branches in the NSC ” KhPTI ” consists of two doctors, 4 professors, 10 candidates of engineering  and physical- mathematical sciences. This allows for scientific research in many fields of modern energy and provides a high level of professional training.
