About the Department
Department of Pedagogy and Psychology of Social System Management was created in February, 2000.
It is the first and the only department in Ukraine dealing with research of psychology-pedagogical problems of the engineering education.
The postgraduate training center has been operating in the department since 2001 under specialty 13.00.04 – Theory and Methodic of Professional Education (pedagogic sciences). During the whole term of existence of our department 20 people defended their work. 3 Doctor of scienses thesis on pedagogics, 18 PhD thesis among them 15 on pedagogics (14 are on specialty 13.00.04; 1 is on specialty 13.00.07 — educational theory and methodic); 2 are on psychology (1 is on specialty 19.00.03 – labor psychology, engineering psychology; 1 is on specialty 19.00.07 — pedagogic and developmental psychology).
The department performs important investigations in the scope of state budget topics. The department has established tight and fruitful scientific relations with the universities of Russia, Romania, Poland, Spain, Georgia. Creative cooperation agreements were concluded with the Institute of Pedagogic Education and Adult Education of the National Academy of Educational Sciences (NAES) of Ukraine, Institute of Higher School of AES of Ukraine, Institute of Problems of Education of AES of Ukraine, Executive Committee of the Kharkov Municipal Council and other organizations.
The department organized and conducted more than 20 international scientific conferences, including five Crimean pedagogic readings with the participation of leading national and foreign scientists – representatives of philosophical, pedagogical, psychological, managerial and engineering-technical fields of education and science.
International scientific-practical conferences are held annually, among them “Pereyaslavskaya Rada, its historical meaning and perspectives of development of the Eastern-Slavic Civilization” and “Literary space – the path to peace, consent and cooperation among Slavic nations”, contributing to harmonization and cooperation of the Slavic nations.
The professor-teaching staff of the department performs active scientific researches by the results of which 75 textbooks were prepared and issued, among them 3 having the label of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, 16 monographs, 21 training aids, 58 methodological handbooks, 900 scientific articles were published. National Technical University of Ukraine “Kharkov Polytechnic Institute (NTU “KPI”) has been issuing the scientific-practical journal “Theory and practice of social system management” since 2000 on a quarterly basis which is a professional edition on philosophical, pedagogical and psychological sciences.
The journal is registered in the International System for the Registration of Serial (Periodical) Publications under the ISSN standardized code 2078-7782.
Besides, a separate collection of scientific papers exists in the department “Problems and perspectives of creation of the national humanitarian-technical elite”, dedicated to the theoretical and methodological aspects of problems of the new philosophy in the professional education, phenomena of the elite, leadership, education of managers – leaders, etc.
The periodic collection of scientific papers is published “Problems and perspectives of the national humanitarian-technical elite” under the editorship of L.L. Tovazhnianskiy and O.G. Romanovskiy.
The educational work of the department is oriented towards harmonious development of the personality, creation of the advantageous educational and pedagogic climate. The main emphasis of the educational work concept of the department is the cultural-aesthetic development of the student’s personality. In the framework of this work the students participate in and visit poetic evenings. The department organized the Club of the Funny and Inventive among student academic groups, the students take active part in sporting events of the Institute.
