On May 14, the opening of the annual international scientific conference MicroCAD-2025 took place at Kharkiv Polytechnic University. And although the conditions for its holding were extremely difficult, which was caused by Russian military aggression, the plenary session of the conference became a top-level event. In particular, plenary reports were delivered by: Director of the Institute of Nanomaterials of Drexel University (USA) Yuriy Gogotsi; Heads of the Institute of Electric Welding named after EO Paton of the NAS of Ukraine Academicians Igor Krivtsun and Serhiy Akhonin; Rector of NTU “KhPI”, Corresponding Member of the NAS of Ukraine Yevgeny Sokol. The conference participants will work until May 17 in twelve-nine sections: from energy, electronics, international business, medical sciences to national security. In total, more than 3.5 thousand scientists, teachers, graduate students and students are expected to participate in the work of the forum. This year, the conference is timed to coincide with the Day of Science in Ukraine and the 140th anniversary of NTU “KhPI”.
The opening of the 33rd International Scientific and Practical Conference “Information Technologies: Science, Engineering, Technology, Education, Health” MicroCAD-2025 became the first official event on the occasion of the Day of Science in Ukraine, which the National Technical University “KhPI” traditionally celebrates in May with a number of events. In addition, the plenary session and, in fact, MicroCAD-2025 and all the solemn events at the university this year are dedicated to the 140th anniversary of Kharkiv Polytechnic University.
Plenary presentations were made by:
- Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Igor Vitaliyovich Krivtsun – Director of the EO Paton Institute of Electric Welding of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Serhiy Volodymyrovych Akhonin – Deputy Director of the EO Paton Institute of Electric Welding of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, with a report: “ Electron-beam technologies for producing the latest titanium alloys and products from them for the needs of defense and medicine”;
- Professor Yuriy Georgievich Gogotsi – Professor of Materials Science and Engineering, Professor Emeritus at Drexel University, Director of the Nanomaterials Institute at Drexel University (USA, Philadelphia), with a report: “Two-dimensional Carbides and Nitrides (MXenes) for Advanced Technologies: Experiment and Modeling”;
- Corresponding Member of the NAS of Ukraine Yevhen Ivanovych Sokol – Rector of the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute” and Professor Olena Yevhenivna Tveritnykova – Head of the Department of “Ukrainian Studies, Culturology and History of Science” of NTU “KhPI”, with a report: “Tested by Time: Engineering Education, Science and Innovation. To the 140th Anniversary of the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute””;
- Professor Olena Petrovna Sharmazanova – Head of the Department of Radiology of NTU “KhPI”, with a report: “History of the Development of Radiology”.
The conference participants will work until May 17 in twelve-nine sections: from energy, electronics, international business, medical sciences to national security. In total, the conference is expected to involve more than 3,500 scientists, teachers, graduate students, and students.
Teachers of the Law Department and their students also joined the conference and prepared abstracts for their reports.
