Department of heat engineering and energy efficiency technologies

Our last year graduate, Serhii Berezhnyi (group E-M521a), became the winner of the 2nd season of the All-Ukrainian educational project Open Agro University, which has recently ended. The project was launched and conducted by Kernel, one of the world’s leading sunflower oil producers. The competition was held for senior engineering students and recent graduates of Ukrainian higher education institutions. The fundamental knowledge Serhii Berezhnyi gained at KhPI has allowed him to become part of a community of young professionals of a new formation who are committed to development and able to achieve goals.
The second season of the Open Agro University (OAU) project for training specialists in the agro and food industry started at the end of January this year with a large-scale event in Kyiv. The event brought together students of the new intake, graduates of the first season, heads of company departments, and OAU organisers in a friendly atmosphere. The audience of the project included senior engineering students and recent graduates of the first, second and third seasons. The lecturers, speakers and mentors of the Open Agro University were top managers and heads of Kernel’s divisions. Classes consisted of lecture and distance learning courses and on-the-job training.

Serhii Berezhnyi, a graduate of Heat Power Engineering, specialising in Energy Management and Energy Efficiency at KhPI, studied at Open Agro University in the field of Energy Engineering. “As a thermal power engineer, I was most interested in classes related to electrical energy, as well as instrumentation and control, which is a lesser-known industry for me. I would especially like to mention the interesting lectures by Yevhen Koshelenko and Ivan Lutsenko. Online meetings with the heads of Kernel’s departments were also valuable. I also gained useful experience on an excursion to the CHP plant of the oil extraction plant in Kropyvnytskyi. In general, the project is a good chance to gain new knowledge and, later, real employment opportunities,” says Serhii.
We know Sergii as a bright and talented student and we are sincerely proud of his success. We wish our graduate a successful career, achievments his goals and great luck!

On 14 October, with the support of Sakhnovshchyna village head V.V. Suetskyi, students of Sakhnovshchyna lyceum No. 1 visited our university. They got acquainted with the Heat Engineering and Energy Efficient Technologies department and Power Plants department and also with the history, achievements and promising areas of study in the energy sector. It was particularly pleasing to see that the students are interested in electricity, heat and energy management. Our meetings and joint work with the lyceum continue.

The Department of Heat Engineering and Energy Efficient Technologies of the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute” hosted schoolchildren from Sakhnovshchyna Lyceum No. 1 (Sakhnovshchyna village council of Krasnohrad district, Kharkiv region). The meeting was attended by 29 children. The teachers of the department introduced the peculiarities and advantages of working in the thermal power industry. On the basis of the agreement between the University and the Lyceum, the topics for participation of schoolchildren in competitions and contests under the guidance of the department’s teachers were discussed. We meet, we work, we move towards admission to NTU “KhPI”.

On September 27, associate professors of the Department of Heat Engineering and Energy Efficient Technologies Tarasenko O.M., Kruglyakova O.V., Koshelnik O.V. made an online visit to the Municipal School “Kharkiv Lyceum №17 of the Kharkiv City Council”. At a special parental meeting, which was attended by parents and students, the teachers told about the specialty and educational program of the department, as well as about the conditions and features of future admission. The department hopes that the meeting, which was held with the active support of the lyceum management, will help graduates choose their path to adulthood!

On September 26, the teachers of the Department of Heat Engineering and Energy Efficient Technologies of NTU “KhPI” met with students of the municipal school “Sakhnovshchyna Lyceum No. 2” of the Sakhnovshchyna Village Council of Krasnohrad district and their parents. The meeting was attended by 14 students. It is very pleasant to feel the interest of the students in studying at the Department of Heat Engineering and Energy Efficient Technologies of NTU “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute”.

At the end of the academic year, the results of the competition for the best master’s theses of NTU “KhPI”, defended in 2022, were summed up. 109 student works from 5 educational and scientific institutes of NTU “KhPI” were submitted for consideration by the commission. According to the results of the competition, a student of the group E-M521a Alexander Pavelchuk (scientific adviser Associate Professor Tarasenko A.M.) took the 3rd place in the Institute of Energy, Electronics and Electromechanics.

Congratulations to the winners of the International Student Professional Creative Competition “Agricultural Sciences and Food”!
In accordance with the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine dated 09.01.2023 No. 9, the International Student Professional Creative Competition “Agricultural Sciences and Food” was held to integrate Ukraine into the world educational space, expand international relations, identify and support talented students, and form a creative generation of scientifically active youth in agrarian science.
The competition was held in the following areas: agronomy, technology of production and processing of livestock products, and agroengineering in two stages.
321 projects from 589 authors from Ukrainian and foreign higher education institutions were submitted to the competition, including 74 universities in Poland, Georgia, Germany, France, Brazil, India, Moldova, Latvia, and others.
According to the results of the International Student Professional Creative Competition “Agricultural Sciences and Food”, students of our university from the Department of Heat Engineering and Energy Efficient Technologies received diplomas of winners. Dmytro Olehovych Yurchenko, a student of the EM-522a group, received diplomas of the winner of the 3rd degree in two nominations at once: “Technology of production and processing of livestock products” and “Agroengineering”. Valeriia Piliuk, a student of group E-520a, received a third degree diploma in Agroengineering.

On June 14, 2023, our 4th-year students defended their final bachelor’s projects. The event was held remotely on the Microsoft Teams corporate platform. Congratulations to all graduates!
