At industrial enterprises (including environmental departments and laboratories), regardless of ownership: chemical, metallurgical, energy, machine-building, dairy, sugar plants; enterprises providing drinking water to the population; processing enterprises of the agricultural sector; academic institutes, sectoral research and design institutes; teachers (by speciality) of universities, academies, institutes, technical colleges, technical schools.
Advantages of graduates of the Department of Chemical Technology of Inorganic Substances, Catalysis and Ecology:
- Our specialists can not only analyse and conclude that the content of harmful substances in the emissions (waste) of various industries is exceeded, but also develop technologies (propose methods) for the treatment or recycling of industrial waste. This is something only we teach in Kharkiv!
- We don’t teach ecology formally (only in books), but the department has the material base, students do laboratory work, conduct research in this area, postgraduate students and researchers, and defend their PhD and doctoral theses.
- Advantages over chemists at classical universities. Yes, theoretical training in chemistry is high there, but they do not study engineering disciplines, but train educators (teachers) for schools. We have the same advantages over pedagogical universities.
- Our graduates can work not only at chemical enterprises, but also at food acid plants, distilleries, and sugar factories, where they solve the issues of water treatment for various needs, purification of gas emissions, wastewater, and solid waste from harmful substances; conduct chromatographic analysis methods; develop and improve individual production stages, for example, obtaining auxiliary materials for sugar bleaching.
- Our graduates are able to develop water treatment technology for any needs, including deeply demineralised water for energy companies (thermal power plants, boiler houses, etc.); drinking water, including mineralised water.
- Graduates of our department can develop technology and calculate equipment for the treatment of gas, liquid and solid waste from any production , as well as for the production of gases: N2, O2, He, Ar, liquid gases and others.
- Our graduates – specialists in the production of mineral fertilisers and chemical plant protection products – can work at agrochemical companies, firms specialising in the supply of mineral fertilisers and other enterprises.
- Our speciality is a general technological one, the broadest and least harmful (toxic) among all chemical specialities.
- Our graduates will always be able to find a job because they know what can be obtained from the available raw materials and what raw materials are needed to produce a given product.
- Our department, which is the only one in Ukraine, trains specialists in the field of catalysis and the technology of catalysts and adsorbents. About 80% of all chemical and pharmaceutical production is catalytic.
- Our graduates successfully work in the field of production, transportation and primary processing of natural gas in the oil and gas complex of Ukraine and other countries, as graduates of educational institutions that train specialists in oil and gas production and transportation do not have in-depth knowledge of their chemical processing into useful products: mineral fertilisers, alcohols, nylon, polyethylene, PVA and others.
It’s okay if you don’t have a great knowledge of chemistry. In the first year, for 1.5-2 months, a “levelling” school chemistry course is taught.
