What are the main advantages of studying at the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute”?
NTU “KhPI” was established in 1885 and was then called the Kharkiv Practical Technological Institute. The first intake of students was 125 people: 85 – for the mechanical and 40 – for the chemical department. See more at the link. Today, NTU “KhPI” is one of the leading technical universities in Ukraine and confidently holds leading positions in the world ranking of universities Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024. An important event in 2023 was the signing by the rector of the university of the updated Magna Charta Universitatum, which confirms the desire of NTU “KhPI” to integrate into the European educational and scientific community. In 2023, almost 5 thousand students, including more than 670 foreign citizens, joined the multi-thousand-strong family of Kharkiv Polytechnics. The priority for the university is the development of international ties, the formation and implementation of new educational, research and innovation projects under the Erasmus, Horizon Europe, STCU, etc. programs, as well as the restoration and reconstruction of infrastructure. The Department of Business Economics and International Economic Relations was established in 1950 to provide economic training for specialists and is one of the first departments in Ukraine to train specialists in economic specialties. Nowadays, the department functions as part of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Economics, Management and International Business (NNI EMMB), is a graduate school for training specialists: ◈ I-th (bachelor) level of higher education in the following specialties: 051 “Economics”: educational and professional programs: “Economics and Business Organization”, “Business Economics and Personnel Management” 292 “International Economic Relations”: educational and professional programs: “International Economic Relations”, “International Commerce” ◈ II-th (master’s) level of higher education in the following specialties: 051 “Economics”: educational and professional program: “Economics” 292 “International Economic Relations”: educational and professional program: “International Economic Relations” ◈ III-th (Doctor of Philosophy) level of higher education in the following specialty: 051 “Economics”: educational and scientific program: “Economics”. The department offers English-language programs for training specialists: ◈ 1st (bachelor’s) level of higher education in the specialty 292 “International Economic Relations” ◈ 2nd (master’s) level of higher education in the specialty 051 “Economics”. Classes with students are conducted by experienced teachers. The total number of teaching staff of the department is 32 people (30 full-time teachers, 2 part-time teachers). Among the full-time teaching staff of the department: 5 Doctors of Economics, 17 Candidates of Economics, 2 Doctors of Philosophy in Economics, 1 Candidate of Technical Sciences. Most teachers have experience in practical work, experience running their own business, undergo continuous advanced training and internships at domestic and foreign universities. During 2020-2024. The department has prepared and defended 2 doctoral theses and 4 dissertations of candidates for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy. Currently, 31 postgraduate students and 2 doctoral students are undergoing scientific training at the department. Every year, the department acts as the organizer of two international conferences: – international scientific and practical Internet conference of students and young scientists “Strategies for innovative development of the economy of Ukraine: problems, prospects, efficiency” (Forward); – international scientific and practical conference “International economic relations. Sustainable development of Ukraine in the conditions of globalization and European economic integration: problems, prospects, efficiency” (PHENIX). The department publishes the scientific journal “Bulletin of the National Technical University “KhPI” (Economic Sciences)”. Based on the Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine No. 409 dated 17.03.2020 it is included in category “B” of the List of scientific professional publications of Ukraine in the field of economic sciences in specialties 051, 071, 072, 073, 075, 076, 242, 281, 292. The department carries out international cooperation, participating in seminars, conferences. The department’s international relations have a fruitful impact on the quality of training of applicants, allow improving the content and forms of education, and enrich the educational process with the achievements of foreign scientists. The department implements international projects: – a double diploma program with the Higher School of Occupational Safety and Health Management in Katowice (WSZOP); – 4 projects ERASMUS + KA 1 International credit mobility of students – 4-month internships (Magdeburg, Miskolc, Kalisz, Katowice, Athens); – annual professional student internships at the University of Miskolc (Hungary); – master’s program with Tallinn University of Technology; – student exchange program with Vienna University of Economics; – cooperation agreement between the educational center “German Technical Faculty” of NTU “KhPI” (director: Associate Professor Denis Viktorovich Meshkov) and the Otto von Guericke University (Magdeburg, Germany) within the framework of the DAAD Eastern Partnership program. The department acted as the responsible executor and co-executor at NTU “KhPI” of 10 international projects: TEMPUS, INTAS, DAAD, EuropeAid, ERASMUS + KA2.
