A Documentary About Renowned Kharkiv Ceramic Artists Nominated for an Oscar

“Porcelain War“ was created through a collaboration of filmmakers from the USA, Ukraine, and Australia, and tells the story of the difficult wartime lives of ceramic artists from an independent creative workshop in Kharkiv.

From an interview with Kharkiv ceramic artists Hanna Stasenko and Stanislav Leontiev for Keramika magazine:

– What techniques do you use in your work?
– Slip casting, hand modeling, glazing, overglaze painting, gold and platinum luster decoration.

– Why porcelain in particular?
– Economically, it’s definitely profitable. For many years now, ceramics have been our main source of income.
