On April 12, we finally hosted the much-anticipated Open Day of our institute. The event was held in two formats: offline — in the safe shelter space of NTU “KhPI”, and online — for those located outside Kharkiv.
The offline event was attended by many high school students who had the opportunity to explore the educational programs of our institute, meet with students and faculty members. Our Department of Ceramics, Refractories, Glass, and Enamels Technology was represented by Head of the Department Olena Fedorenko and Professors Oksana Borysenko and Viktoriya Taranenkova. We showcased our handmade mosaic “The Code of Resilience”, created from fragments of ceramic tiles and glass left behind after enemy drone attacks on NTU “KhPI” buildings.

As part of the offline activities, participants were invited to complete a quest by visiting different department booths and completing tasks. Our department organized a glass mosaic workshop and a chemistry quiz for the schoolchildren.

Our students were actively involved in running the event: Sofiia Lezhavska (HT-123v), Ivan Datsiuk (HT-122v), and Oleksandr Konev (HT-M124v).
The online event was hosted by the Director of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Chemical Technologies and Engineering Ihor Ryshchenko and Deputy Director for Academic Affairs Inna Lavrova, who introduced our university and the institute’s academic programs. Pavlo Korekian, our graduate and now postgraduate student, also joined the session. He shared memories of his student experience, participation in international innovation competitions, and presented our educational direction to prospective students.
Participants of both the online and offline formats received a comprehensive overview of the various academic programs offered at the institute, potential career paths, job opportunities, financial prospects, and international cooperation initiatives by our researchers.
The event generated great interest among both students and teachers, and most importantly — it turned out to be engaging, informative, and truly inspiring.
