The Department of Organic Chemistry was not a specialized department at NTU “KhPI” . Most of the course and diploma projects were carried out at the graduate technological departments , which is typical for the present time , however, research in the field of organic chemistry conducted within the walls of the department , scientific works , textbooks and educational and methodological developments are rightfully the pride of domestic chemical science.

In  September  2018  , the leadership of  NTU  “ KhPI ”  made  a decision to  merge  the Department of Organic Chemistry with the Department of “ Technology of Polymer Composite Materials and Coatings ”, which is a graduate (profile).
At the department, scientists and teachers have developed a new scientific direction in the development and introduction into the production of environmentally friendly paint and varnish materials and oligomers of multifunctional purpose.
Training of highly qualified personnel has been carried out since 1956.
