Guest Lecture by the Vice President for Academic Affairs of PMI Ukraine Chapter

On March 11, 2026, a binary class was held for third-year students of the educational and professional program “Computer Science. Artificial Intelligence and Project Management” within the course “Fundamentals of Project Management.” The topic of the lecture was “Basic Concepts of Project Management.”

The class was conducted with the participation of a representative of the IT industry and the academic community, which made it possible to combine theoretical knowledge with practical experience in modern project management.

The lecture was delivered by Andrii Skoromnyi, PhD in Technical Sciences, Delivery Manager at Promova, and Vice President for Academic Affairs of the PMI Ukraine Chapter. During the lecture, he introduced higher education students to modern approaches to project management in the IT industry based on the international standards of the Project Management Institute (PMI). The lecturer thoroughly explained the key concepts of project management, including the definition of a project, the project life cycle, the roles of team members, and the specifics of managing IT projects in a dynamic technological environment.

Special attention was paid to the practical aspects of implementing projects in the field of information technology. Andrii Skoromnyi shared his many years of experience in engineering and IT with the students, presented examples of real projects, discussed the application of modern project management methodologies, and emphasized the importance of international standards for ensuring effective teamwork.

The class was also attended by Maryna Hrynchenko, Head of the Department of Project Management in Information Technologies. She emphasized to the students the importance of project management for future specialists in computer science and highlighted the significance of integrating knowledge from the fields of information technology, artificial intelligence, and modern project management methodologies.

During the session, students actively participated in the discussion and asked questions about the specifics of project team work, career opportunities in IT project management, and the application of PMI standards in real projects.

Such classes contribute to strengthening the practical orientation of the educational process, forming students’ modern understanding of project management, and improving their awareness of the requirements that the IT industry places on future professionals.

The event became an important step in strengthening cooperation between the university and representatives of the IT business and also contributed to improving the quality of training for students of the educational program “Computer Science. Artificial Intelligence and Project Management.”
