On May 26, 2026, the Department of Project Management in Information Technology held a business game entitled “Selecting an Approach to Organizational Project Portfolio Management.”
Students of group KN-M525, who are enrolled in the educational program “Project Management in the Field of Information Technology,” took part in the event. The business game was conducted within the framework of the course “Program and Portfolio Management.”
The game was supervised by Ihor Volodymyrovych Kononenko, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Project Management in Information Technology, and Laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology.

Project portfolio management is one of the most important management functions in modern organizations. The choice of an appropriate portfolio management approach has a significant impact on the achievement of strategic objectives and the overall effectiveness of an organization.
The purpose of the game was to identify the most appropriate approach to organizational project portfolio management among several alternatives.
To solve this task, the participants applied the method for selecting a project portfolio management approach proposed in the scientific works of I. V. Kononenko and M. Kpodjedo. The game was conducted using the example of managing a portfolio of research projects at NTU “KhPI”.

All participants demonstrated a high level of knowledge and practical skills in the field of project portfolio management, actively engaged in discussions, and provided well-reasoned justifications for their decisions.
The discussion of the game results was attended by A. O. Lysenko, Associate Professor of the Department of Project Management in Information Technology, Candidate of Technical Sciences. The event was also attended by O. I. Chaikova, Associate Professor of the Department of Management, Candidate of Economic Sciences, at National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute” (NTU “KhPI”).
