Game-Based Project Design 2023

Motivation is one of the key factors in high-quality learning. It can be significantly enhanced when theoretical knowledge is reinforced through practical, real-world tasks.
On December 5, 2023, the defense of the course project “Design of Modern Boilers and Boiler Houses” was held in a game-based format — a long-established tradition of the department.
The fifth-year students of group E-M523a took part under the supervision of Associate Professor O. M. Tarasenko.
According to the project “legend,” students acted as representatives of an engineering company tasked with modernizing a boiler plant to reduce natural gas consumption. Based on the data provided, the optimal reconstruction option — proposed by Mykhailo Polshchykov — was the conversion of the boiler to operate on a mixture of biogas and natural gas.
Active participants also included Illia Zdorov, Yurii Basov, and Viacheslav Pavlov.
The presentations were attended not only by department staff but also by many guests from various units of NTU “KhPI.”
The projects developed within the game-based format became a rehearsal for future master’s research.
