Since 1975, the department has trained more than 300 electric drive engineers and 12 candidates of science from 55 countries.
The most comprehensive collaboration was established in 1965 with the Department of Electric Drive Engineering at the University of Magdeburg. Otto von Guericke (Germany): mutual exchange of curricula, course programs, practical training of students in Germany, joint scientific work, lecturing, teaching graduate students, participation in scientific conferences.
The result of cooperation was the creation of the German Technical Faculty at NTU “KhPI”, and the Middle East European Institute at the University of Magdeburg, which makes it possible to combine efforts to reform higher education, improve the level of training of specialists, promote their mobility and competitiveness in the labor market, and master new high modern technologies.
Students of the NT faculty are given lectures in German by teachers from Germany and teachers trained in Magdeburg.
International conferences organized by the department are attended by specialists from 25 countries, including Germany, USA, Canada, Italy, Hungary, Poland, China, Vietnam, India, Syria, Russia, Belarus, Georgia, Lithuania, Latvia, Kazakhstan, Jordan, Libya and other countries.
In 1999, during joint scientific research in Magdeburg, prof. Klepikov V.B., prof. F. Palisom et al. A.V. Klepikov discovered the phenomenon of amplification of elastic vibrations in electromechanical systems with slipping.
