Scientific activity

Theoretical developments of the department for the period from 1990 to 2009:
a new scientific direction “Dynamics of electromechanical systems with negative viscous friction” was created, related to the behavior of electric drives of machines and mechanisms during slipping and the phenomenon of frictional self-oscillations (Doctor of Technical Sciences, Prof. V.B. Klepikov);
a theory of application of topological methods for the analysis and synthesis of electromechanical systems was created. A method for simplifying synthesized systems based on the theory of continued fractions has been proposed (Dr. Sc., Prof. V.T. Dolbnya);
developed methods for the synthesis of electromechanical systems with state observers (Doctor of Technical Sciences, Prof. Akimov L.V., Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Osichev A.V.);
a new criterion for tuning regulators of multiple-integrating systems has been justified and proposed (Doctor of Technical Sciences Gul A.I.);
For the first time in the CIS, the use of neural networks and genetic algorithms for controlling electromechanical systems was proposed and their synthesis was carried out (Dr. Sc., Prof. Klepikov V.B., Ph.D. Sergeev S.A., Ph.D. n. Makhotilo K.V.);
developed energy-saving control laws for heating furnaces (Ph.D., Associate Professor Voinov V.P., Ph.D., Associate Professor Voinov V.V.);
the phenomenon of amplification of elastic vibrations in electromechanical systems with slipping during normal pressure force fluctuations was discovered (Dr. Sc., Prof. Klepikov V.B., Prof. Palis F., Asp. Klepikov A.V.);
according to the plan of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, an assessment was made of the role of electric drives in solving the problem of energy and resource conservation in Ukraine and proposals were made for the modernization of medium-power electric drives in the country (Doctor of Technical Sciences, Prof. Klepikov V.B.).

Practical developments:
system for preventing slippage of rolling mill rolls;
vibration reduction device in heavy roll grinding machines;
a series of program-controlled semiconductor converters for an energy-saving asynchronous electric drive;
a computerized electromechanical complex for schoolchildren to acquire programming skills with musical accompaniment.

In order to strengthen practical training, since 2002 the department began the development and production of various types of modern energy-saving electric drives with microprocessor program control, in which Assoc. Kolotilo V.I., associate professor Tishchenko V.N., head laboratory of Guzenko V.I., masters Kastorny P.M., Malakhov A.I., graduate students Moiseev A.N., Banev E.F., Timoschenko A.V. and etc.

Sample developments: “Integrated software-controlled asynchronous electric drive”, “Energy-saving electric drive for metro escalators”, “Variable frequency electric drive powered from a single-phase network”, “Computerized electromechanical complex for schools “Dancing Ostrich” “Power supply using the “turbo-expander-asynchronous generator-semiconductor converter” system “for gas distribution stations”, “Multifunctional frequency converter for energy-saving electric drives” have been repeatedly awarded with diplomas and certificates at republican and regional industrial exhibitions.

7 patents for inventions received.
According to the plans of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, 2 scientific topics are being implemented.
Based on research materials, 7 monographs have been published and more than 500 scientific articles have been published.

The results of scientific research were presented at international conferences in Russia, Germany, Italy, France, Hungary, Poland, India, Vietnam, and Syria.

Since 1980, employees and graduate students of the department have defended 4 doctoral and 37 candidate dissertations. The department has postgraduate and doctoral studies, and a seminar of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine “Dynamics of Nonlinear Electromechanical Systems” operates.

In 1992, a specialized council was created at the department for the defense of candidate dissertations, and in 1997 – doctoral dissertations, in which employees and graduate students of the department defended themselves for the degree of Ph.D.: I.O. Tukalov, S.I. Alekhin, V.N. Shamardina, S.G. Buryakovsky, V.P. Voinov, T.B. Lutskova, A.N. Cherenov, Jamal Rizk, Zeidan Iman, Salim Hamade, V.V. Voinov, Badi Zarifa, A.N. Netesa, Georges Itois, V.I. Kolotilo, V.S. Markov, Abdelmalik Jamal, T.B. Kuznetsova, Bulukh Muhammed, I.S. Polyanskaya, V.O. Kotlyarov, A.N. Moiseev, A.A. Tkachenko, E.F. Banev; for the degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences: A.I. Gul. Candidate’s dissertations are completed by T.Yu. Kunchenko, L.V. Asmolova, A.V. Timoschenko, A.V. Semikov, P.A. Korotaev.

During the difficult economic period of recession in the country of scientific research, the staff of the department became the initiator and organizer, starting in 1993, of the annual international scientific and technical conference “Problems of automated electric drive. Theory and Practice”, which played an important role in preserving and increasing the scientific potential of electric drives in Ukraine. The conference was attended by Vice-President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine A.K. Shidlovsky, Academician Secretary of the Department of Physical and Technical Problems of Energy B.S. Stogniy, Academicians G.G. Pivnyak. and Matsevity Yu.M., corresponding members Kirilenko A.V., Kuznetsov V.G., Volkov I.V., 75 doctors of science, professors.

52 conference participants defended doctoral dissertations and more than 150 candidate dissertations. The department annually publishes a collection of scientific works, the editorial board of which includes 2 academicians, 2 corresponding members of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, 25 doctors of science.

On the initiative of the department in 2002, 2003, 2004. the magazine “Electrical Engineering” (Moscow) devoted special issues to the works of Ukrainian electrical engineers.

Recognition of the scientific and technical authority and merits of the department is the election of the head of the department, V.B. Klepikov, as the President of the Ukrainian Association of Electrical Engineers. and prof. Shamardina V.N. – executive secretary, as well as the assignment of V.B. Klepikov the title “Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine”.
