For applicants – an introductory video about the department
NTU “KhPI” hosted a presentation of the first electric vehicle in Ukraine with a supercapacitor battery for educational and scientific purposes, created by teachers, staff and students of the Department of Automated Electromechanical Systems.
An electric drive with microcomputer control developed by scientists of the department was installed on a Daewoo Lanos car instead of a gasoline engine. The electric drive ensures the return of motion energy when the speed decreases, when driving downhill and when the electric vehicle stops. In the process of creating an electric vehicle, technologies were developed to replace the internal combustion engine in existing vehicles with a microcomputer-controlled electric drive.
Graduates of the department have the opportunity to work in companies, enterprises and service stations in converting cars into electric vehicles, programming on-board computers, diagnosing mechatronic systems of electric vehicles, their repair and operation. According to world experts, by 2020 there will be about 5 million electric vehicles on roads around the world.
