Currently, the department works as a part of the Educational and Scientific Institute “Energy, Electronics and Electromechanics” of NTU

Currently, the department operates as part of the Educational and Scientific Institute of “Power Engineering, Electronics and Electromechanics” of NTU “KhPI”.

The Department of “Automation and Cybersecurity of Power Systems” of the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute” was founded in 2003. Since its establishment, it has been a center for training highly qualified specialists in the field of automation of energy processes, power system management and cybersecurity of critical infrastructure.

The department trains bachelors and masters in specialties related to the development of automated control systems, monitoring and diagnostics of energy equipment, as well as protection of energy information systems.

The department’s modern laboratories are equipped with the latest equipment, which allows students to acquire practical skills, in particular in the development of automation systems, analysis of Smart Grid operation and ensuring cyber security of energy networks.

The research work of the department covers the following areas:

  • automation of electricity production, transmission and distribution;
  • development of intelligent control systems;
  • research in the field of cybersecurity of energy facilities;
  • energy saving technologies and integration of renewable energy sources.

The department cooperates with leading scientific institutions and enterprises of Ukraine and the world, participates in international projects and programs. Thanks to this, students have the opportunity to do internships, participate in research and get acquainted with advanced technologies.

The head of the department is Doctor of Technical Sciences Dmytro Gapon. Under his leadership, the department continues to develop, offering modern educational programs and scientific solutions that meet the challenges of modern energy.
