The DSG:2 Dual Degree Program between OVGU and NTU “KhPI” was launched in the summer of 2022, following the start of the military invasion of Ukraine. Many Ukrainian high school graduates in Germany faced difficulties continuing their education due to significant differences between the Ukrainian and German education systems.

Today, we are speaking with Larisa Minasyan, a participant in the DSG:2 program, who will share her impressions of the program, OVGU University, and student life in Magdeburg.

What are the main advantages of studying at the National Technical University 'Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute'?

NTU ‘KhPI’ was established in 1885 and was originally called the Kharkiv Practical Technological Institute. The first student intake consisted of 125 people: 85 in the Mechanical Department and 40 in the Chemical Department. Read more .

Today, NTU ‘KhPI’ is one of the leading technical universities in Ukraine and confidently maintains top positions in the global university rankings Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024. An important event in 2023 was the signing of an updated agreement by the university’s rector (Magna Charta Universitatum), confirming NTU ‘KhPI’s commitment to integrating into the European educational and scientific community.

In 2023, nearly 5,000 students joined the large Kharkiv Polytechnic family, including more than 670 international students.

A priority for the university is the development of international partnerships, the creation and implementation of new educational, research, and innovation projects under programs such as Erasmus, Horizon Europe, and STCU, as well as the restoration and reconstruction of infrastructure.

What skills will students gain upon completing the program?
