Congratulations on Winning the National Student Scientific Works Competition: Best Student-Researcher of NTU “KhPI”!

We sincerely congratulate our department’s student Artem Aleksandrov (group HT-33mp(N)) and his scientific advisor, Associate Professor Viktoriya Vitaliyivna Taranenko, on winning the National Student Scientific Works Competition in the specialty “Construction and Civil Engineering” (in the photo, from left to right: Deputy Director of IHTI for Research, Professor G.M. Shabanova, A. Aleksandrov, Associate Professor V.V. Taranenko)!

Artem’s scientific work, “Alumina Cement Using Low-Quality Bauxites from Different Deposits,” was awarded a first-degree diploma. The competition jury noted the high scientific level and relevance of the work, as currently, there is no production of alumina cement in Ukraine.

Artem has been conducting scientific research at the department for a long time, presenting his research results at international scientific-practical conferences, and he also has publications in professional journals. Therefore, it is no surprise that by the decision of the Academic Council of NTU “KhPI,” Artem was recognized as the best participant in the university’s scientific research activities.

At the “Job Fair 2017” meeting with students from our department, representatives from “YUGCement” of Dyckerhoff Cement Ukraine (part of the Italian corporation Buzzi Unicem) approached our university to collaborate on training practice and further employment for students specializing in “Chemical Technologies of Refractory Non-Metallic and Silicate Materials.” They offered Artem an internship at the company during the summer holidays (students received a salary and were provided with accommodation during the internship). Artem eagerly took the opportunity to gain such valuable industrial experience.

Our department has long-standing and strong ties with this company, and many of our graduates work there. Young specialists are always welcomed, given opportunities for personal development, and supported in their career growth. They provide free language courses, offer foreign internships, and organize various corporate activities, including free excursions and trips to the seaside. For example, our graduate Maksym Shapovalov reached the position of production manager in just five years after graduating from NTU “KhPI.” Artem completed his internship as a laboratory engineer in the production laboratory and technical control department at “YUGCement.” The company’s laboratory is equipped with the latest technology and ranks third in the world among 80 similar laboratories (you can see Artem during his internship in the company’s promotional video on our website). In their free time, interns could relax on the banks of the Southern Bug or Black Sea, where they were taken by a free bus.

A publication about Artem’s successful internship appeared in the corporate journal “Dyckerhoff Today,” titled “Looking for Our Future Specialists.” The company is always interested in Artem’s academic and scientific progress and is already looking forward to his return after he graduates from university.
