From October 7 to 11, 2024, the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute” hosted the International Scientific Conference on Energy, Electronics, and Advanced Technologies, “IEEE 5th KhPI Week on Advanced Technology.” Two hundred scientists from leading higher education institutions and research organizations in 15 countries presented the results of their innovative research in areas such as energy systems, biomedical engineering, micro- and nanotechnology, and more.

The event was made possible with the support of the international scientific community, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and the IEEE Ukrainian Section. Despite the challenging situation in Ukraine due to the ongoing war, the conference demonstrated the resilience and dedication of Ukrainian scientists to continue their research and development of innovative solutions.

In 2024, the conference program introduced a new section titled “Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation.” Organized by scientists and lecturers from the Educational and Scientific Institute of Chemical Technologies and Engineering (NNIHTE), this section was established to explore innovative dielectric material technologies for various industries. Its relevance stems from the fact that, despite the diversity of existing dielectric materials, they are not always interchangeable. The choice of dielectric depends on factors such as efficiency, cost-effectiveness, environmental sustainability, and the physical-mechanical properties of the materials. Important considerations include electrical insulation, mechanical, thermal, and other physicochemical properties that enable materials to meet the demands of modern scientific and technological progress.

Our department’s staff actively participated in the section’s work. Twenty-one presentations were delivered, five of which were presented by our department’s scientists, along with three more in collaboration with representatives from other Ukrainian educational institutions. The section was chaired by Professor Oksana Borysenko from our department.

In 2024, the forum received an International Standard Serial Number (ISSN), which highlights its high scientific status and significant impact on the development of engineering science.
