Specialties

The Department of Foundry Production is recruiting students for the first (bachelor’s) level in specialty 136 “Metallurgy” OPP “Computerized Foundry Production, Artistic and Jewelry Casting,” with a duration of 3 years and 10 months, as well as in specialty 131 “Applied Mechanics” OPP “Modeling of Technical Systems”, duration of study 3 years 10 months.

Castings are the basis of various machines, machine tools, locomotives, automobiles, etc. Modern devices and apparatus cannot be manufactured without the use of precise and complex castings made of special alloys with special physical and physical-mechanical properties. Future engineers study in modern training laboratories: research of molding materials, casting alloys, theory of metallurgical processes, artistic casting, environmentally friendly technologies, automation of foundry production, metallography, and a computing center. Computers are widely used in laboratory work, coursework, and thesis design.
When studying the specialty “Artistic and Jewelry Casting,” sufficient attention is paid to mastering the methods of processing artistic and jewelry products. Finding the right balance between matte and shiny surfaces, different textures, the use of enamels, blackening, and patination allows you to achieve the necessary expressiveness of an artistic work and give the product a finished and clear artistic image.

The Department of Foundry Production is recruiting students for the second (master’s) level of education in the specialty 136 “Metallurgy” OPP “Metallurgical Processes and Systems”, duration of study 1 year 4 months, as well as in the specialty 131 “Applied Mechanics” with a study period of 1 year and 4 months.

The Department of Foundry Production is recruiting students for the second (master’s) level in specialty 131 “Applied Mechanics” with the educational program “Modeling of Technical Systems,” with a duration of 1 year and 9 months, as well as in specialty 136 ‘Metallurgy’ with the educational program “Metallurgy,” with a duration of 1 year and 9 months.

While studying these specialties, you will acquire knowledge in the field of metallurgical technologies using:
– Computer-aided design systems:
• low level KOMPAS, AutoCAD, Mechanical Desktop, Personal Designer.
• intermediate level SolidWorks (SolidWorks Inc.), SolidEdge (Intergraph), Cimatron.
• advanced level of Unigraphics (EDS), Pro/Engineer (Parametric Technology).
– Automated engineering analysis using software packages: ANSYS, MSC/NASTRAN (MacNeal – Schwendler Corporation), UAI/NASTRAN (Universal Analytics Inc), LVM Flow, as well as COSMOS/M, C-MOLD, MOLDFLOW, etc.

3) Field of knowledge-13 “Mechanical Engineering”
Specialty – 136 “Metallurgy”
Training of applicants for higher education degree of Doctor of Philosophy

Specialty 136 “Metallurgy” is a development of specialty 05.16. 04 – Foundry Production (in the field of mechanical engineering), under which postgraduate studies have existed at NTU “KhPI” for more than 50 years and doctoral and candidate dissertations have been defended in specialized scientific councils of NTU “KhPI”, FTIMS NASU, and NMetAU. In this specialty, from 2000 to 2020 alone, 3 doctoral and 5 candidate dissertations were defended at NTU “KhPI”, 1 of them in English. Training is carried out in full-time and part-time forms of postgraduate study. Foreign citizens are eligible to study. (Resolution No. 1151 of 06.11.15, Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine No. 655 of 10.06.2016). The program aims to provide theoretical knowledge, skills, abilities, and other competencies sufficient for generating new ideas, solving complex scientific problems in the field of mechanical engineering and/or
research and innovation, mastering the methodology of scientific and pedagogical activity, conducting independent scientific research, the results of which are scientifically novel and have theoretical and practical significance; certification in the form of a successful public defense of a dissertation before a specialized academic council and awarding of a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Metallurgy based on the completion of the educational and scientific components of the program. Training is carried out in active cooperation with stakeholders who have confirmed the need for training specialists in this specialty, within the framework of the activities of the scientific school Computer-Integrated Technologies and Equipment of Foundry Production of the Department of Foundry Production in the following areas: computer-integrated design of cast parts; improving the reliability of complex systems, optimization of technical solutions in the design and reconstruction of workshops and the development of innovative technologies and equipment based on them; mathematical modeling of technological processes and optimization of mechatronic systems; strengthening of parts using innovative methods of chemical-thermal and combined processing.
