This project aims to researching the static and dynamic measuring characteristics of the gas
turbine with zero load on the shaft, in other words with an optical or magnetic tachometer. The results of this research can be used to solve specific problems of measurement of gas flow rate: a large range of measured flow, nonstationarity gas flow, the presence of pulsations, etc.

Of particular importance this project has in the field of medicine using the results of research for solving problems of pulmonary and nasal breathing researches, sports and restorative medicine during ergometry.

The research consists of two phases:

  1. Determination of the static characteristics of the measuring turbine using a specially designed stand for researches and mathematical model of measuring turbine. As a result of this step can be determined: type conversion function, the coefficients of the calibration equation, threshold turbine sections of laminar and turbulent characteristics of gas flowing through the turbine.
  2. Determination of dynamic characteristics of the turbine by supplying the input of the flowmeter changing currents in the prescribed function. As a result of this step can be determined: the extent of the dynamic equation, the time constants of acceleration and deceleration, the limit frequency of the gas flow pulsation.

Application area:

  • production  instrumentation on the basis of the turbine sensor
  • metrological maintenance of turbine flowmeters
  • flow measurement of small or nonstationary gas flows.

Project status:

Developed a special stand, which allows the flowmeter to input a series of streams with normalized charges in all entire measuring range. Developed mathematical model of the measuring turbine that takes into account the points of movement and rotor braking. Developed a PC application that enables you to analyze the tachometer output signal in real time, to compare his testimony with the testimony of a differential pressure gauge. Developed a program method of state metrological certification of digital spirometer portable DSP 14/1 with measuring spirometric turbine Medical International Research, which was approved by the Center for Standardization, Metrology and Certification.

Implementation period: 8-10 months

Expected results:

  • Determining the static and dynamic characteristics of the turbine flowmeter sensors
  • Preparation programs and methods of metrological certification for turbine gas meters, including those workers in specific conditions.
