Another irreparable loss for the Kharkiv Polytechnic family…
On the night of September 12, 2022, our graduate Oleksandr Kholodny was killed at his workplace during a missile attack by the Russian Federation on a high-voltage substation in Kharkiv. He was 23 years old. Sashko studied at the “Transmission of Electric Energy” department of the National Institute of Power Engineering, Electronics and Electromechanics, in December 2021 he defended his master’s degree. While still a student, as part of his pre-diploma practice, he completed an internship at this substation, which became his first and last place of work…
All six months of the war, realizing that the substation is a critical infrastructure and, accordingly, a daily target of the aggressor, Oleksandr, together with his energy colleagues, continued to work to ensure the country’s energy supply, for the sake of the Victory of Ukraine.
“A young energetic man with a thirst for practical knowledge. Already working as an electrician, he defended his master’s degree. Attentive to details, always eager to learn more, an excellent young specialist,” — this is how Oleksandr Kholodny is described at the Ukrenergo company.
Teachers remember Sashka as a bright and cheerful person, a student whose “eyes were burning”…
“It is difficult to find the words to convey the pain caused by the news of the death of a young man who had many unfulfilled dreams,” says Veronika Cherkashina, professor of the “Transmission of Electric Energy” department, who was a course supervisor during Oleksandr’s studies at KhPI National Technical University. .
