The Department of Philosophy was founded in 1957 to prepare future leaders of the national economy by developing their intellect and improving their thinking style. The department’s work is focused on the individual, their problems and hopes, fostering spiritual resilience, openness to the world, positive thinking, and a thirst for knowledge. The strategic direction of the department is the study of philosophical problems in science, technology, and education.
The Department of Philosophy annually holds
The International Scientific and Practical Conference “Philosophy in the Modern World,” aimed at highlighting current philosophical problems of modern society and the development of the philosophy of science and technology, legal and socio-cultural issues of the Ukrainian state, and issues of the nation’s spiritual and physical health. The International Scientific and Methodological Seminar “Human / World at a Crossroads: Technologies, Resources, Social Institutions,” aimed at discussing possible trajectories of the modern world’s development from a philosophical perspective.
The following have been established at the Department of Philosophy
A Student Philosophical Circle. The aim of the scientific philosophical circle is to create conditions for the most capable students to realize their creative potential, popularize philosophical knowledge among students, develop critical thinking in young people, and foster skills in independently solving worldview problems and the ability to resist negative external influences.
A Scientific Society of Postgraduate and Undergraduate Students. The society’s activities are aimed at developing critical and scientific thinking skills, logical reasoning, and the ability to rationally approach problem-solving situations among postgraduate and undergraduate students; mastering the technique of philosophizing, expanding horizons based on philosophical knowledge, expanding the field of intellectual and practical activity, and optimizing relationships between teachers, postgraduate students, and undergraduate students.
Science
The scientific activity of the Department of Philosophy is aimed at conducting scientific research, the participation of the department’s teachers in domestic and international scientific conferences and seminars, the training of highly qualified scientists, the involvement of university students in research activities, and the preparation of monographs.
The teachers of the Department of Philosophy are engaged in the development of the research topic: “Philosophical Analysis of Human, Nature, and Modern Society.”
Postgraduate Studies
The Department of Philosophy trains Doctors of Philosophy in the specialty B10-Philosophy.
The training is aimed at the special preparation of specialists in philosophy, which involves their education and activity in relevant theoretical and methodological dimensions, as a result of which specialists acquire the ability to generate new ideas, solve complex problems in the field of philosophy and humanities, which involves a deep rethinking of existing and the creation of new holistic knowledge and the improvement of professional practice.
Graduates have the opportunity to hold positions as research and teaching staff in research institutions and higher education institutions and can work in the following professions: associate professor, professor, assistant, lecturer of a higher education institution, lecturer of a professional educational institution, lecturer of a vocational education institution, junior research fellow, research fellow, research fellow-consultant, expert on socio-political issues, consultant on socio-political issues (in parties and other public organizations), philosopher, and also hold positions in higher education institutions and scientific, research, and educational organizations (institutions), and enterprises of various forms of ownership.
