On October 1, 2025, the Department of Project Management in Information Technologies at NTU “KhPI” held a binary class within the academic discipline “IT Project Management”, dedicated to the topic of crisis management in IT projects.

The session was conducted by Dr. Marina Hrynchenko, Head of the Department, in collaboration with Olena Yehorova, a certified business consultant, project and portfolio management expert, and mentor for entrepreneurship and startup development programs.

The main goal of the class was to enhance the practical competencies of students in the field of crisis and anti-crisis management in IT projects. The discussion covered the following key topics:

  • Definitions of “crisis,” “crisis management,” and “anti-crisis governance”;

  • Analysis of the causes of crisis situations in projects;

  • Overview of the five phases of crisis management;

  • Development of communication strategies for crisis resolution.

During the class, Olena Yehorova shared her professional experience in managing IT projects, provided real-world business cases, and emphasized the importance of risk assessment and effective communication when addressing crises.

Students from groups KN-322a, KN-322v, and KN-323sv actively participated in the session. They engaged in interactive discussions, offered examples of internal and external factors contributing to crisis development in projects, and explored possible strategies for resolving them.

The binary class format, combining academic theory with practical business insight, allowed students to gain valuable hands-on experience in anti-crisis management, fostered team collaboration, and developed systems thinking.

This event is another successful example of the department’s ongoing cooperation with industry professionals and a significant step in implementing practice-oriented training for future IT project managers and computer science specialists.
