Igor V. Kononenko
Laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology, Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor of the Strategic Management Department of National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute”, Head of the Strategic Management Department of National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute” (2000-2020), National Expert of United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO, 1995), Deputy Director of Institute of Machinery and Systems of the Ministry of Industrial Policy and National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (1993-2002).
I.Kononenko has written over 270 scientific works and 12 manuals, prepared 12 PhDs. He participated in major international scientific conferences in Australia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Italy, Poland, Romania, Turkey and France.
Biography
Having got an honor degree at school and Kharkiv Aviation Institute, he worked as an engineer, an assistant, a senior lecturer, an associate professor of Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute. In 1979, I. Kononenko got a PhD degree, and in 1992 a Doctorate degree, afterwards he was promoted to the position of an associate professor and a professor. I. Kononenko was one of the co- founders of Machinery and Systems Institute of Industrial Policy Ministry and the National Academy of Sciences in 1993. This institute was considered the major / leading organization of Ukraine coordinating state programs implementation in the field of mobile technologies.

Scientific research activity
In 1995, Igor Kononenko did a course in investment development project according to the UNIDO international requirements and became a national expert of this influential organization. Owing to his coaching activity, the UNIDO methodology was implemented and for the first time in Ukraine, dozens of investment projects were generated under these international requirements. I.Kononenko examined the projects mentioned above and presented them at the international investment forums in Washington DC, Vienna, Paris, Yalta. As the result of this work the world’s business elite became aware of wide perspectives for fruitful cooperation with Ukraine. Projects of Ukraine were widely advertised via the World Investment Network.
In 2000 I.V.Kononenko initiated and founded the first Strategic Management Department at the NTU “KPI” preparing specialists in “project management”.
In 2005 I.Kononenko and A.Repin revealed a new regularity in the world economy, called “The Regularity of GDP Growth Rate Change Influence on Fixed Capital Investments into a Particular Economy”, which was illustrated with the examples of 33 European countries, the USA, Canada, Japan.
Under his direction a computerized simulation models of the socio-economic development of Ukraine has been developed in 1994, 1998, as well as the forecasting of scientific and technological development of Ukraine in 2009. This particular method, 1998, correctly predicted the rise of Ukrainian GDP in 2000 and the further average growth rate within the next few years.
I.Kononenko worked out the methodology of production systems strategic development, including product design optimization techniques as well as projects and portfolios scope optimization methods under conditions of uncertainty.

I.Kononenko consulted dozens of businesses on issues related to strategy development, balanced scorecard systems implementation, project management. The implementation of proposed innovations made it possible for companies to increase sales and profitability.
I.Kononenko was awarded the order “for Marits” of the 3-rd degree by the President of Ukraine, with Diplomas of Youth and Sports Minister of Ukraine, the State Administration of Kharkiv Region, the Kharkiv Regional Council, the Kharkiv City Council, the President of Kharkiv Regional Association of Entrepreneurs, University of Hartford (USA), and Barney School of Business (USA).
