On October 27, 2025, an open meeting of the scientific club “ Connection ” was held on the topic “The Mentality of a Champion.”
The special guest of the event was Roman Svichkar, European fencing champion, prize winner of world championships and international tournaments, and finalist of the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2021.
During the meeting, participants had the opportunity to discuss:
- what traits and values shape a true champion;
- what needs to be developed in order to achieve success in top-level sports;
- what distinguishes an average athlete from a champion.
Special attention was paid to topics related to the discipline of “Public Relations in Physical Culture and Sports” — in particular, the issues of promoting sports in Ukraine, ambassadorship, image making, and creating quality sports content.
The event was attended by 23 participants — students from various departments, tutors, and guests. After the interview with Roman Svichkar, there was a Q&A session during which everyone had the opportunity to ask questions to the star athlete. The atmosphere of the meeting was sincere, inspiring, and filled with lively communication. The gathering lasted over an hour and was a powerful motivational experience for everyone.
The event was hosted by Oksana Poliakova, Associate professor of the Department of Physical Education, who skillfully moderated the discussion and helped participants reveal the most interesting aspects of the topic.
The scientific club “Connection ” has once again proven that sports and science are areas that enrich each other, because it is precisely in such meetings that inspiration for development, new achievements, and victories is born.
