On 7–10 October, the Ukrainian Freestyle Wrestling Championship for boys and girls under 16 was held in Cherkasy.
A total of 448 athletes from 24 regions of Ukraine took part in the competition.
Ivan Golubotsky (group OPK-114), a student at the Kharkiv Computer Technology College of the National Technical University ‘KhPI’, competed as part of the Kharkiv region team and the ‘Colosseum NTU KhPI’ sports club, winning a bronze medal in the weight category up to 71 kg.
There were 51 athletes in the 71 kg category in total. Ivan fought six bouts and won five of them.
