Scientific direction of the department is “Modification of polymeric materials and composite systems based on them”
Direction department is working to create functional polymeric materials, surface modification of fillers, chemical compounds and physical and chemical structure, protective coatings, adhesives and sealants, intensification of chemical processes structuring reactive oligomers and polymers. Many development department were implemented in enterprises of machine building, aviation, electrical-electronic industry, food industry, transport.
Department performed the following work:
- Identification of unknown polymer materials.
- Testing and analysis of the properties of polymeric materials.
- Development of technical specifications for production (extrusion, injection molding, extrusion, pneumatic, vacuum forming and so on.).
- The initial data for design synthesis production and processing of plastics.
- Provides advice on production technology and plastic processing, printing on polymers, properties and application areas of plastics, analyzes the reasons for shortage occupations and recommends ways to avoid it.
- Provides advice on recycling plastics.
- Represents express their own methods of control in terms of production of adhesion, wetting, adhesive and plastic strife.
In the above work involved highly qualified specialists who have degrees and titles, production experience.
Staff of the department published 7 books, more than 1,200 scientific papers, received 190 patents of inventions. The scientific work of the department, which exhibited the achievements of the economy, were awarded gold, silver, bronze medals. More than 42 graduates became doctors and candidates of sciences. By research work actively involved students. Together with the lecturer, students received 65 invention certificates, published over 270 scientific papers, made more than 320 scientific papers in international, national, local and university conferences.
The department is a postgraduate, full-time and part-time learning.
Creative Scientific cooperation department with leading medical institutions of Kharkov (State Medical University, Institute of Advanced Medical, Research Institute of Orthopedics and Traumatology, Research Institute of Social Security, Research Institute of Dermatology and Venereology, “Stoma” and others.) Led to the creation of specialization “Technology of Polymers of Medical and Biological appointment”. This specialization was created for the first time in Ukraine. Students of this specialization together with the lecturer and the doctors performing these institutions graduate research work on the creation of new polymer composite materials for prosthetics, dentistry, bactericidal polymer composite, long-acting drugs, test kits for the accurate diagnosis of various diseases. The results of joint work published in scientific journals protected by copyright certificates, were shown in exhibitions at various levels.
Students of the department at international and national competitions of student research works received 60 diplomas I, II and III, and a large number of honorary awards.
