At this time, the department has a highly qualified staff of teachers, which was formed mainly from its former graduate students. Among her 9 teachers there are 2 professors, Ph.D., 4 associate professors, Ph.D., 2 assistants.
Due to the fact that the course of electrical engineering is constantly expanding and today includes electronics and microprocessor technology, new teaching laboratories have been created at the department. Now there are four: two for electrical circuits and electrical devices, for electronics, for microprocessor technology. In addition, there is a research laboratory where studies of cryogenic and linear electric motors are conducted.
The total area occupied by the department is 357.5 square meters, of which the area of educational and laboratory facilities located on the 2nd floor of the electro-housing, 157.4 square meters. Laboratory classes are conducted using the frontal method; for this, the department has 14 universal stands for electrical engineering, 8 universal laboratory stands for electronics and 3 universal laboratory stands for microprocessor technology. In the corridor of the department there are 24 information and reference stands, which are essentially a brief summary of lectures on electrical engineering and electronics.
The name of the disciplines that are taught: “Electrical Engineering”, “Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Microprocessor Technology”, “Electrical Engineering and Electrical Engineering”, “Electrical Engineering and Electronics”, “Calculation and design of low-temperature machines and installations.”
The number of students who simultaneously study at the department during the semester is approximately 800-900 people. The annual volume of educational assignments of the department is about 8000 hours according to NTU “KPI”. In addition, since 1999, the department began teaching at the Institute of Tank Forces at NTU “KPI”.
The department has 27 names of textbooks and guidelines for practical and independent study of students, 37 names of guidelines for the implementation of laboratory robots and 9 names of calculation and graphic tasks. The department published and when lecturing is given to each student handouts with the most complex illustrations.
The department holds an annual Olympiad on electrical engineering among students of non-electrical specialties of NTU “KPI”, as well as similar Olympiads among students of technical educational institutions of Ukraine.
Employees and teachers of the department have a fairly significant number of scientific publications in the leading publishing houses of Ukraine and abroad, as well as copyright certificates and patents, actively participate in international scientific conferences.
The growth of the scientific level of teachers and staff is facilitated by the presence of specialized scientific councils in the university for the protection of doctoral and master’s theses in the department’s profile. The teachers of the department take an active part in the work of specialized scientific councils.
