The DSG:2 Double Degree Program between OVGU and NTU “KhPI” was launched in the summer of 2022, following the start of the military invasion of Ukraine. Many graduates of Ukrainian schools in Germany faced difficulties in continuing their education due to significant differences between the educational systems of Ukraine and Germany.
Today we are speaking with Larysa Minasyan, a participant of the DSG:2 program, who will share her impressions of the program, OVGU, and student life in Magdeburg.

An online meeting was held with students of the Municipal Institution Kharkiv Lyceum No. 162 on the topic “Introduction to Microorganism Producers in Biotechnology.”
During the event, students gained an understanding of microorganisms as key objects of modern biotechnology, learned what producer microorganisms are, and explored their role in industry, medicine, pharmacy, food, and environmental technologies. Examples of the use of bacteria, yeasts, and microscopic fungi for the synthesis of antibiotics, enzymes, vitamins, organic acids, and other biologically active compounds were discussed.
The meeting was conducted by Associate Professor Bielinska A.P., who explained the basic principles of biotechnological processes in a clear and scientifically grounded manner, including the cultivation of microorganisms, regulation of their metabolism, and production of target compounds. Special attention was paid to the interdisciplinary nature of biotechnology and its close links with chemistry, biology, medicine, and engineering.
During the discussion, students actively asked questions, showed interest in the future development of biotechnology, opportunities for studying relevant specialties, and potential careers in this field. The event contributed to increasing students’ interest in natural sciences, shaping their understanding of modern research areas, and demonstrating the practical application of biotechnological knowledge.
08.12.2025 — Meeting with a Stakeholder of the Educational Program — Bohdan Putiatin (Biopharm JSC)
A working meeting with a stakeholder of the educational program, Bohdan Putiatin, an analytical chemist at Biopharm JSC, was held at the Department of Biotechnology, Biophysics and Analytical Chemistry. The purpose of the event was to discuss opportunities for cooperation in attracting prospective students to bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree programs, providing advanced training for Biopharm JSC employees, and improving the training of specialists for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.
During the meeting, current employer requirements for young specialists, prospects for internships and practical training, and pathways for professional development were discussed. The company representative emphasized the importance of developing modern competencies in students in the fields of analytical chemistry, biotechnological processes, and product quality control.
The event contributed to strengthening partnerships between the department and industrial stakeholders and outlined potential areas for further cooperation aimed at the development of educational programs and the professional growth of students.
