Career Guidance Meeting at Kharkiv Lyceum No. 80

On March 9, 2026, PhD student Pavlo Korekian from the Department of Ceramics, Refractories, Glass and Enamels Technology held a STEAM event titled “Materials of the Future: From Invisibility to Armor” for students of the Municipal Institution “Kharkiv Lyceum No. 80 of the Kharkiv City Council.”

During the event, the school students became familiar with modern achievements in materials science and learned how advanced materials are transforming various areas of life — from medicine and electronics to space technology and the defense industry. Special attention was given to such topics as metamaterials, transparent armor, ultra-strong ceramics, and materials with unique physical properties.

In an accessible and interactive format, the students learned:

  • how materials capable of controlling light and making objects “invisible” are created;
  • why ceramics can be stronger than metal;
  • where modern composite and protective materials are used;
  • how materials science helps create the technologies of the future.

The STEAM meeting combined elements of science, technology, engineering, and practical examples of new materials in use, which aroused great interest among the students. The event contributed to the popularization of science, the development of research-oriented thinking, and the encouragement of school students to study natural sciences and technical disciplines.
