Today, 24 March, we visited our friends — the students of the Boiko School of Writing — for the second time. This time, the conversation was about something that surrounds us every minute but remains invisible — recommendation algorithms! 🌐🎬
Together with Dina Tereshchenko, a lecturer in the Department of Sociology and Public Administration, we held an interactive session on a topic that resonated with everyone: ‘How do Netflix, TikTok and YouTube “read” you?’
🔍 What did we discuss with the students?
🔹 The magic of algorithms: why does TikTok know your mood better than your friends? 📈
🔹 Digital footprints: how our preferences are turned into data for AI.
🔹 Sociology online: how platforms shape our tastes and views of the world. 🌍
🔹 The future of professions: why specialists who understand both code (IT) and people (sociology) are worth their weight in gold today. 💎
🔥 Why is this important?
The students at Boiko School are creative and modern young people. They don’t just consume content; they want to understand how the ‘digital backstage’ works. Together, we discovered that the combination of applied linguistics, IT and sociology is the key to shaping the world of the future! 🔑🧬
Thank you to the school for the great atmosphere and thought-provoking questions. See you again at Polytech! 🏛️✨
