🌟Science with a female face and drive on International Day of Women and Girls in Science in Kharkiv

In Kharkiv, science swapped its ‘strict glasses’ for bright emotions and modern technology. To mark International Day of Women and Girls in Science (11 February), the city’s female scientists put on a real STEM show, where formulas came to life in the hands of professionals.

Kharkiv Polytechnic became one of the key participants in the event, demonstrating that science is not boring textbooks, but drive, opportunities and the future.

Recognition at the city level 🏆 Mayor Ihor Terekhov personally congratulated the participants of the event and presented awards to 48 women scientists. Among the awardees were talented representatives of NTU ‘KhPI’, who prove every day that the best way to change the world is systematically and with formulas in hand.

ICS at the forefront of technology 🤖 The Department of Intelligent Computer Systems was represented by the head of the department, Nadiya Babkova. While congratulations were being heard on stage, heated discussions were taking place at the KPI location. High school students (grades 9–11) actively ‘stormed’ the department representatives with questions about:

  • Applied and computational linguistics 🧬
  • English language and foreign literature 📚

The combination of languages, IT, and artificial intelligence became the main ‘magnet’ for young people who are looking not just for a diploma, but for a real ticket to the future. Students from Kharkiv Lyceum No. 80 were particularly active — they were so inspired that they immediately invited the SGT to visit them to continue getting acquainted!

Synergy and mood 🎶 The event was supported by cadets and teachers of the Military Institute of Tank Forces of the National Technical University ‘Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute’, and the festive rhythm was provided by the vocal show band ‘Suzirya’ of the Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute Student Palace. After all, even the most serious scientific discoveries sound better with good music!
