Scientific-Educational Institute of Mechanical Engineering and Transport (IES MET) was established in 2018 on the basis of the faculties of mechanical engineering, mechanical and technological engineering, and transport engineering. It also includes one department each from the Faculty of Power Engineering and the Faculty of Integrated Technologies and Chemical Engineering. Ensuring the sustainable development of the educational and scientific process is the main strategic direction of the institute’s activities for the period 2025-2030
The institute consists of 15 departments, of which 14 are graduate departments. The educational process ensures the training of qualified specialists. Today, the institute has about 1500 Ukrainian students (1250 – budget form of study, 250 – contract) studying in 9 specialties in 26 educational programs. About 80 international students from more than 15 countries of the world are studying at the institute.
The educational process and scientific research are carried out by about 250 teachers and 30 scientists, among whom 75 are doctors of sciences and professors and about 120 candidates of sciences and associate professors. All specialties are provided with master’s programs. 95–96% of graduates are able to find a job. Important components of the educational process are remote and dual education. The content of education is formed by curricula and programs created taking into account the requirements of the Bologna process.
The research work of the institute’s scientists is aimed at the innovative development of the country. New technologies for modern industries, new models of equipment are being created. The institute has scientific schools that conduct fundamental and applied research in the fields of mechanical engineering, materials science, hydropower, transport, ecology and others. The institute is carrying out 3 fundamental and 5 applied scientific works worth over 11 million UAH.
There are about 60 postgraduate students and 3 doctoral students studying in postgraduate and doctoral programs.
In recent years, the staff of the IES MET has published more than 250 works included in the scientific databases Scopus and Web of Science. Based on the results of scientific work, more than 800 articles are published annually. More than 160 works are published in co-authorship with students, and 45 articles are published by students independently. More than 160 works were published in co-authorship with students, and 45 scientific works were published by students independently. In 7 specialized academic councils at the departments of the IES MET, 3-4 doctoral and 13-18 candidate theses are defended annually. In recent years, scientists have received the State Prize in Science and Technology, 3 scientists have been awarded the President of Ukraine Prizes for Young Scientists.
The Institute has creative relations with universities in foreign countries, which allows it to integrate into the global scientific and educational space. Based on grants, teachers and students travel every year to foreign universities for included training, industrial practice, scientific conferences and internships.
