Address by Rector of KhPI Yevhen Sokol on the Anniversary of the Full-Scale Invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine

Dear compatriots!

Today, with pain in our hearts, we remember the tragic date of February 24, 2022, when the Russian Federation began a full-scale war against Ukraine. The President and the government of our country, as well as every citizen, immediately faced the most important task of protecting people and preserving the state. We all began to act together; the terrible events united and consolidated our society. The leadership of Ukrainian universities worked clearly and harmoniously. The evacuation of students, including foreign ones, was organized, and assistance to teachers and staff was established. We managed to preserve the entire administrative structure of the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute” and continue the educational process.

From now on, Kharkiv polytechnics conscientiously and professionally fulfill their duties. Unfortunately, we are forced to teach our students online, as daily enemy missile attacks on Kharkiv do not allow us to return to the usual mode of operation. But despite the constant arrivals of enemy shells, Kharkiv polytechnics continue to maintain high standards. During the war, we conduct a quality admission of applicants to NTU “KhPI,” continuously and effectively carry out the educational process, and provide our students with modern knowledge. Kharkiv Polytechnic has friendly ties with European higher education institutions, which allows our students to gain practical skills there. For many years, we have been cooperating with stakeholders who help us in this direction.

We deeply mourn our students, teachers, and staff who, unfortunately, were taken by the war. We will always remember them… We are proud of the defenders of our country who, with weapons in their hands, defend the independence and integrity of Ukraine. Among these Heroes are officers, cadets, and graduates of the Military Institute of Tank Troops of the National Technical University “KhPI.”

Dear friends! I wish you all good health, resilience, and endurance! Each of us believes in our common Victory. Together, we need to do a lot more to make our peaceful, independent country strong and prosperous. We will continue to teach and work at the indomitable Kharkiv Polytechnic, in the glorious Ukrainian hero city of Kharkiv. Victory will be ours!

Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the Armed Forces of Ukraine!
