An event dedicated to promoting the role of women in science was held in Kharkiv on the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, which is celebrated annually on February 11.
During the event, visitors could get acquainted with experimental demonstrations, scientific developments and educational opportunities of both NTU “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute” and other universities. A special emphasis was placed on career guidance for schoolchildren and teenagers. Employees of the Department of Organic Synthesis and Pharmaceutical Technologies, Head of the Department, Prof. O.P. Strelets and Assoc. Prof. T.O. Ovsyannikova also took part in the event.
Mayor Igor Terekhov congratulated the participants of the event on the holiday and presented the Mayor’s Gratitude to 48 women scientists. Among them were researchers from Kharkiv Polytechnic.
The mayor emphasized that even in the most difficult conditions, Kharkiv remains a city of education, research and innovation, and women scientists are a force that inspires new generations of young people to choose the path of engineering, IT and research.
The vocal show band “Suzir’ya” of the Palace of Students of KhPI helped create a festive mood.
