Angelina Danylova (Bachelor’s Graduate, Class of 2026)

When it came time to choose my educational path, I decided to join the Department of Project Management in Information Technology—and I still consider it one of the best decisions I have ever made.

I entered the Computer Science program with the intention of pursuing a career in web or mobile development. However, the curriculum is designed in such a way that students have the opportunity to try themselves in different roles, and I soon realized that these particular areas were not the right fit for me. Early in the program, we were involved in teamwork across several courses, and that was when I had my realization: coding was simply not my calling. Instead, I discovered that I genuinely enjoy and am well suited for the roles of project manager and business analyst—gathering requirements, identifying and solving team challenges, coordinating tasks, maintaining documentation, and presenting results. As a result, I was able to determine my future career goals while still studying at the university.

What mattered most to me, however, was the feeling that the department was always on my side. Students here are truly seen and heard. Because of my active involvement, I occasionally faced misunderstandings and conflicts with lecturers from other departments. Yet every time, I knew I could rely on my department to listen, support me, and help resolve the situation. Here, students are never left alone to deal with their problems.

I would like to express my special gratitude to Marina Hrynchenko for the opportunities she opened up for me. I entered NTU “KhPI” during the first year of the full-scale invasion and spent all four years studying online. As a result, I did not have the opportunity to attend classes in person or experience campus life. However, Marina Anatoliivna encouraged me to participate in an international exchange program, which allowed me to spend three months studying abroad in English. There, I finally experienced what it means to be a “real student”: living in a dormitory, commuting across the city to attend classes, and spending weekends with fellow students.

Later, thanks to Marina Anatoliivna’s advice, I submitted my CV to IT Cluster, an organization that collaborates with numerous businesses and universities across Ukraine. To my great surprise, I was selected for an internship at an international IT company. This month-long experience as an intern Project Manager not only gave me my first professional entry on my CV but also showed me that everything we had been taught in class truly works in practice.

The department brings together lecturers with extensive real-world experience. Regardless of which IT career path you choose, there will always be a mentor ready to share their expertise and guide you. Moreover, through interactions with invited professionals from leading companies, students graduate not only with knowledge and skills but also with a valuable network of professional contacts.

Thank you, PMIT, for these unforgettable years!
