The Department of Computer Engineering and Programming (CEP) prepares specialists in the 12th branch of knowledge “Information Technologies” and is the basic department at NTU “KhPI” in specialty 123 “Computer Engineering”. The CEP department has a 60-year history and is one of the first departments in Ukraine that trains specialists in computing and programming. 12 doctors and 23 candidates of technical sciences work at the department. As part of training at the CEP Department, it is envisaged to involve experts from well-known IT companies in teaching, to hold classes at the department’s modern laboratory base, which was created jointly with IT companies EPAM, NIX Solutions and GLOBALLOGIC Ukraine, which is equipped with modern technical and software tools.
Specialty 123 “Computer Engineering” is a specialty that combines the science and technology of design, construction, implementation and maintenance of software and hardware components of modern computing systems and computer equipment, control systems; is engaged in the development of computer games, websites and web applications, research in the field of artificial intelligence, mobile applications and robotics, the development of application and system software.
A computer engineer is a specialist in the computer industry (designing mobile devices, computer equipment, control systems, etc.), software industry (programming various systems, mobile devices, computer games, machine learning), processing large amounts of data (Big Data) development of websites and web applications, telecommunications industry (information processing technology, high-speed communication networks, etc.), biomedical industry (development of computerized diagnostic devices and systems), robotics, process control and management, aerospace industry (creation and control of drones and etc.).
The CEP department trains students under two educational and professional programs: “Modern programming, mobile devices and computer games” and “Applied computer engineering”. The training of higher education applicants is carried out in Ukrainian and English at three accredited educational levels: first (bachelor), second (master’s) and third educational and scientific level (doctor of philosophy).
